So not sure what your problem is…the person I was originally replying to thought 25 to life wasn’t an actual sentence in the US. I was correcting that misunderstanding originally.
Then you came in sideways and off topic about it being a justifiable sentence for his crime. I assumed you were commenting in good faith and were confused about my use of quotes around justice. So I responded to that. But if you’re just looking to be a jerk can you do it on like Facebook or something?
I straightened out the “justice” misunderstanding before you came at me sideways about how you don’t like to shit? I don’t think 25 to life was unjust in his case and I didn’t think it was so you can pack up your “it’s easy to understand” toxicity and miss me with it. I was replying to someone who is likely not from the US or doesn’t understand our sentencing.
I lashed out? You started the sarcastic toxic trolling behavior with a comment that was unrelated to the conversation I was having with someone else, then continued it in a follow on comment when I tried to straighten out the misunderstanding…in what world did you not start the issue here? It’s not gatekeepers lemmy to ask you to take your toxic trolling behavior elsewhere.
If you’re a troll I do hope you go back to Facebook. If you somehow genuinely don’t think you’re a troll then I hope you develop the ability use basic insight to reflect on how you come off socially.
So I don’t think those are the rights OP is referencing exactly. Criminals should absolutely have the right to the things you mentioned, but I think OP was referencing more the right to vote, hold office, etc. In some states (and countries throughout history) those with felony equivalent convictions lose access to civic related rights. This severely limits their ability to participate in and therefore influence political and civic discourse and direction.
Video games are definitely a different strokes, different folks type thing. I “play through” (never done the main quest) of vanilla skyrim ever few years. I wouldn’t even know how to download a mod for it and I still love it all these years later.
Originally the VP was whoever got the second most votes. Then the 13th Ammendment happened. Now in most states (all states) the President and VP run as a pair but the Electoral Delegates vote for them separately.
Can the delegates vote for one and not the other? Depends. Traditionally you cast your delegate vote according to the results so you’d vote along “ticket” lines. In some states delegates ( who are often put forward by the parties) are bound to vote according to the election results. In some states they are not. Traditionally they do but as we saw last US election we aren’t even pretending to be doing sane things anymore.
So I’m not really a star trek fan but can someone explain to me what the fuck the lesson was supposed to be other than Archer is an irredeemable monster? Cause that episode seems to be trying to say something and it doesn’t seem to be that all people should have basic worth/rights.
Is there any way to do this? I keep opening the reply thing while attempting to scroll, not sure if it’s my phone being too sensitive or the way I swipe but it’s driving me up the wall....
I thought maybe it was just me! I feel like everytime I try to scroll my screen goes haywire and there’s no telling what it’ll do: like the post? Dislike the post? Open a reply?
But seriously, everyone thinks they have the worst roads. I’ve lived in more than a few states (and visited even more) and Pennsylvania has the worst roads I’ve ever seen. No other state I’ve seen has been even close. WTF PA?
Visited all those states (and loved in NY), I agree that they’re roads aren’t good. PA has all those problems sometimes on the same roads. Try driving somewhere outside of Philly. There are “main” roads it’s faster to walk
You may want to look into a sleep study (assuming you can afford it or are not American). There are some sleep problems that can cause you to not feel rested even with a ton of sleep.
Angry orchard is definitely an alcoholic drink…drunk driving at 90 with while showing off your gun…this photo just needs a hamburger to be peak America.
Yes, there are areas of the US where those numbers are potentially real. Some of those houses will have multiple bedrooms, updated interiors, and land attached to them for less than 100k. The only catch is that you will have to live in rural bumfuck Oklahoma or somewhere similarly tyrannical and backwards.
Sony announced a ton of layoffs recently, at the same time they announced they will not be releasing any major titles until 2025. Don’t they need staff to make stuff? doesn’t every company? Why all the sudden layoffs, it just doesn’t make sense to me, what am I missing?
I’m not sure the CEOs actually thought growth would continue like that forever. They just knew they could get rid of all the extra people they hired when it slowed. The layoffs were always part of the plan, they just didn’t say that quiet part out loud back in 2020.
Honestly I’ve met some British tourists who didn’t queue very well on vacation either. There are just so many more Americans tourists in many places that we overwhelm many other countries asshole tourists.
I’m not trying to say Americans aren’t shitty tourists we are most definitely shitty tourists.
This misinformation could kill someone. Steak and chicken are not the same and do not have the same heating requirements.
If you sear the outside of steak it will kill most harmful bacteria including salmonella. That is not true of chicken where the salmonella is more likely to be throughout the meat.
Please don’t give out dangerous food safety misinformation.
Salmonella can penerate chicken meat…the cdc recommends cooking chicken thoroughly to prevent specifically salmonella poisoning. Please stop trying to get people sick.

What's up with all the layoffs in the technology sector, especially in the gaming industry?
