BottleOfAlkahest,

That not what that means in the US, ‘25 to life’ is an exact sentence for our “justice” system.

BottleOfAlkahest,

I’m not trying to argue this guy doesn’t deserve his sentence. I just take some issue with our system in general. I agree he earned 25 to life.

BottleOfAlkahest,

So not sure what your problem is…the person I was originally replying to thought 25 to life wasn’t an actual sentence in the US. I was correcting that misunderstanding originally.

Then you came in sideways and off topic about it being a justifiable sentence for his crime. I assumed you were commenting in good faith and were confused about my use of quotes around justice. So I responded to that. But if you’re just looking to be a jerk can you do it on like Facebook or something?

BottleOfAlkahest,

Rolled yarn is often referred to as a skein. I guess maybe it has two meanings, the posted one seems like it may be unpopular or archaic.

BottleOfAlkahest,

So I’m not really a star trek fan but can someone explain to me what the fuck the lesson was supposed to be other than Archer is an irredeemable monster? Cause that episode seems to be trying to say something and it doesn’t seem to be that all people should have basic worth/rights.

BottleOfAlkahest,

Any bank who loans that man money will deserve it when he doesn’t pay them back.

BottleOfAlkahest,

I thought maybe it was just me! I feel like everytime I try to scroll my screen goes haywire and there’s no telling what it’ll do: like the post? Dislike the post? Open a reply?

BottleOfAlkahest,

A lot of places are using a third party to handle online payments a d they are trying to pass on the cost of that to the payee.

What's up with all the layoffs in the technology sector, especially in the gaming industry?

Sony announced a ton of layoffs recently, at the same time they announced they will not be releasing any major titles until 2025. Don’t they need staff to make stuff? doesn’t every company? Why all the sudden layoffs, it just doesn’t make sense to me, what am I missing?

BottleOfAlkahest,

I’m not sure the CEOs actually thought growth would continue like that forever. They just knew they could get rid of all the extra people they hired when it slowed. The layoffs were always part of the plan, they just didn’t say that quiet part out loud back in 2020.

BottleOfAlkahest,

Honestly I’ve met some British tourists who didn’t queue very well on vacation either. There are just so many more Americans tourists in many places that we overwhelm many other countries asshole tourists.

I’m not trying to say Americans aren’t shitty tourists we are most definitely shitty tourists.

BottleOfAlkahest,

Yes, there are areas of the US where those numbers are potentially real. Some of those houses will have multiple bedrooms, updated interiors, and land attached to them for less than 100k. The only catch is that you will have to live in rural bumfuck Oklahoma or somewhere similarly tyrannical and backwards.

BottleOfAlkahest,

This misinformation could kill someone. Steak and chicken are not the same and do not have the same heating requirements.

If you sear the outside of steak it will kill most harmful bacteria including salmonella. That is not true of chicken where the salmonella is more likely to be throughout the meat.

Please don’t give out dangerous food safety misinformation.

BottleOfAlkahest,

Salmonella can penerate chicken meat…the cdc recommends cooking chicken thoroughly to prevent specifically salmonella poisoning. Please stop trying to get people sick.

BottleOfAlkahest,

So I don’t think those are the rights OP is referencing exactly. Criminals should absolutely have the right to the things you mentioned, but I think OP was referencing more the right to vote, hold office, etc. In some states (and countries throughout history) those with felony equivalent convictions lose access to civic related rights. This severely limits their ability to participate in and therefore influence political and civic discourse and direction.

BottleOfAlkahest,

Even if you’d normally need a CDL you might not need one on private property. Lots of manufacturing sites have “yard hostlers” that are not road legal and do not require a CDL to operate (in the US).

BottleOfAlkahest,

Can’t the AG just decline to prosecute and release you? Being arrested =/= being charged after all.

How does employing a rapist not constitute an unsafe work environment for female employees?

So I just discovered that I have been working next to the waste of oxygen that raped my best friend several years ago. I work in a manufacturing environment and I know that you can’t fire someone just for being a sex offender unless it directly interferes with work duties (in the US). But despite it being a primarily male...

BottleOfAlkahest,

You mean “at-will” states and that functionally means any state but Montana.

BottleOfAlkahest,

Many US based companies also do pre-employment background checks. So either OP works for a company that doesn’t or they work for a “second chance” company that is OK with violent backgrounds. Either way the company is fine with his background and is very unlikely to fire him for something they likely knew about at hire.

BottleOfAlkahest,

The sign next to it looks like it may be in Greek so if it’s not Greece it’s a country that uses similar lettering in their language.

BottleOfAlkahest,

It’s used to deter pests so just spray some around your property and report the rest stolen.

BottleOfAlkahest,

That’s also $15 with the option of every topping known to man ,and if you do add sides theyre enough for a meal on their own.

BottleOfAlkahest,

Manufacturing, not a ton of behind the desk work required. What little office work is required is still often done on paper or on very manual entry heavy basic excel sheets.

I dont know why tech people always forget non tech jobs still exist. You definetely wouldn’t get paid for just sitting in a chair unless you’ve cracked industrial line automation in a way that should have already made you a billionaire. Still more automation of any kind would also be a good thing in a lot of plants.

BottleOfAlkahest,

You clearly just don’t understand manufacturing. They’d still be willing to fire you and make us use a paper and pencil. In fact if the techs that important then no it isn’t because they don’t trust it, and we’re keeping paper backups anyway.

I know that because youre in tech you think you can “out smart” the guy who can build a house with a paper and pencil, but I promise that you aren’t half as clever as you think you are.
