CosmoNova,

Ah ja, ein typischer good guys move. OpenAI kann man uneingeschränkt vertrauen das richtige mit LLMs zu tun! Besonders mit dem deutschen Bruce Wayne des Journalismus an ihrer Seite /s

CosmoNova,

Yep. They‘re doing exactly what we usually call hostile underbidding to heavily inflate prices later when they‘re a top dog. A practice that is not quite legal in most parts of the west. And whoever wants to know when things still don‘t work out for the car maker because subsidies dry up: Search for Chinese manufacturer ‚Weltmeister‘. That will make you think thrice about ever coming near a Chinese EV.

CosmoNova,

That‘s a terrible idea. Just because China throws irresponsible amounts of cash at cars doesn‘t mean we have to do the same mistake. We can simply say it‘s not OK to sell products under manufacturing costs to gain market share and that‘s that. Let‘s not inflate the already oversized car market even more.

CosmoNova,

Dying malls are a sign of bad urban planning, not of a shrinking economy. Malls in America have been closing down for probably decades now while there are still new ones opening in European cities.

CosmoNova,

Apparently not enough feelings to take their “learn unity” bundle down that’s still going for 10 days. The little money it raised so far is laughable compared to the Godot bundle.

Unity ...It Just Keeps Get Worse (youtu.be)

To say it’s been a bad week for Unity is the understatement of 2023. First they announced a terrible new Pricing scheme, then their customers revolted, as the week goes on though, it gets worse and worse for Unity, from threats from an employee shutting down their offices, to more studios threatening to leave, to scummy secret...

CosmoNova,

One gripe I have with this video is that he said the situation at the unity office - namely the supposed death threat by an employee against their employer - was “understandable”. It absolutely isn’t understandable. No matter how shitty your tech CEO is, unless they happily throw puppies into a wood chipper in the office, death threats are definitely not understandable.

CosmoNova,

Mind you those are (at least some of) the guys that killed animation and comedy sketches on youtube because they made it necessary for videos to be 10+ minutes long to be relevant.

CosmoNova,

CosmoNova,

It’s literally a day 1 DLC. “No additional costs” is quite a stretch indeed.

CosmoNova,

The tale of producers dumbing down plot and dialogue for greater main stream appeal is as old as show business. And from my experience said producers are almost always wrong. Sorry pal, but you can’t blame social media for something your peers have always been doing.

CosmoNova,

bei jedem Bewerbungsgespräch fragen die mich wie ich das machen will

Echt? Wurde das noch nie gefragt, obwohl ich in den meisten Fällen hätte umziehen müssen. War denen immer völlig egal.

[News] Artificial intelligence advances fuel industry trying to preserve loved ones after death (www.yahoo.com)

The article discusses how artificial intelligence (AI) advances are being used in an industry that aims to preserve the memory of deceased loved ones. Justin Harrison, the founder of an AI company called You, Only Virtual, has created chatbots modeled after deceased individuals, including his own late mother. These AI-driven...

CosmoNova,

Another one for the “This should not be happening but it totally is about to happen” bingo card. Science Fiction has predicted many of those because they’re always taken as manuals for some reason.

CosmoNova,

Yep. AI won’t actually replace writers any time soon. At least not completely. But Hollywood excecs sure as hell want everyone to believe they can so they can destroy unions in the industry and replace writers with “AI prompters” that basically still do all of the work, but have to use AI in some way and make a fraction of what writers used to make.

CosmoNova,

They started blocking users with advanced adblockers completely in some places. It’s expected they’ll roll out that policy in most countries. Prepare to either ditch Youtube completely, watch dozens of ads as well as sponsored segments every couple of minutes (because why would Google pay content creators who make them a huge pile of money by providing content for free adequately, right?) or pay hundreds of dollars a year. Even then they might start showing you some ads because why the hell not? Big tech stole the internet from us and now they’re banking in on it big time. Needlesly to say this is not a sustainable business model, but since when did that ever bother mega corporations?

CosmoNova,

People with overpaid white collar jobs do that plenty and there are plenty of them who will pay probably up to $50 a month or more. Youtube is already testing predatory measures to make chrome users ditch adblockers by giving out warnings to people who use them. Many more will go Youtube Premium in the near future because of such measures and Youtube will keep ramping up prices of course.

CosmoNova,

I fee like premium is really the only way to make youtube more sustainable for content creators and the platform alike.

I really don’t see how, unfortunately. You give Youtube the money and they decide what to do with it and they won’t do it in a remotely fair way because they want profits for themselves. There are many better ways to support content creators directly than over whatever Youtube decides to pay them at any given moment. Most content creators know that of course and are already linking to other services that you can use to help them out. At least for as long as Youtube allows it…

CosmoNova,

Firefox is pretty much the only browser Google doesn’t own directly. I’m afraid all of the other browsers will soon malfunction on that front so we’ll have to see.

CosmoNova,

All the protests will do nothing but drive traffic.

Which is the EXACT reason they’re doing it again all of sudden. This was not scheduled by any means but the dumpster fire for the past weeks causes them to grasp for straws. It’s a pathetic attempt to get users back that their psychopathic methods drove away.

CosmoNova,

r/spaces was dead as soon as the first one ended. Whether you feel indifferent about what happened the past couple of weeks or Reddit as a whole, or simply despise Spez. You’ll be disappointed either way. They will censor the crap out of it.

CosmoNova,

Netflix has been cooking this up for years now and other video platforms like Youtube are testing similar strategies already to follow suit. Prices are ramping up and quality of pretty much all services (web and others) is downspiraling rapidly. Guess that’s what they call market self-regulation, heh? Anyway, as much as Netflix and others say this will make them a great deal of money, it will backfire soon or later. I think a lot of us will realise we’re better off with less of these time wasters in our lives in the end.

CosmoNova,

We used to demand trials before buying before

We did? When exactly? Not when I was buying games for my consoles on the flea market and not when I got Rollercoaster Tycoon from a cereal box.

CosmoNova,

I meant demand as in trying it first for free BEFORE buying.

Don’t remember that being a thing for new games ever. Demo discs were usually of games that were already out and reviewed anyway. The closest we have to that is Steam’s refund policy and that’s a fairly recent thing. Point is, I don’t think that time you think you’re remembering ever existed in that shape or form.

CosmoNova,

And he did so for the millionth time nonetheless!

CosmoNova,

Making exact copies of subreddits, then being surprised people can’t shut up about Reddit. Reddit Lemmy Moment.
