@ivory Having an issue on my iPad in landscape orientation in which occasionally the split-screen (my feed on the left 3/4ths, my favorites on the right quarter of the screen) is lost and I have only my feed, full screen, and no option to bring up the favorites again. I have to force-quit Ivory and relaunch to get the split-screen back. Are you aware of this?

@DamonFerguson We fixed a few iPad issues in v1.8 which was just released today. Try grabbing it and seeing if that solves your issues.

@davemark @jdalrymple Lesson learned the hard way about AppleCare+: one should not buy AC+ coverage with a device if the device isn’t going to be used/gifted soon after purchase. My mom bought me Beats Studio Pro headphones with AC+ from Amazon in mid-October during their Prime Days. The AC+ warranty on my just-opened-the-box-today Studio Pros shows expiration date of 10/13/25, not 12/24/25. 2+ months wasted. In such cases it’s best to not buy AC+ with device, but rather upon device activation.

@DamonFerguson @davemark @jdalrymple One thing to think about: (which may not apply to headphones cos no Theft/Loss coverage, but DOES apply to phones, computers, etc because of AC+/Theft/Loss) is: had an issue happened before opening box such as theft of item, loss of item, it's best to have AC+ from point of buying - if you are gonna buy it at all.

@gruber One thing I’m wondering about this Visual Voicemail feature in iOS 17 - in the past, if calls went to voice mail, no cell minutes used because the call wasn’t answered. Most plans are unlimited now, no big deal. Domestically. So… what happens if you’re out of country? Maybe you intend to never answer a call, only use data to look at maps, FaceTime, etc. Does VVm not work because you’re not on your own carrier? Or will it pass to the roaming carrier, but be treated like an answered call?

@DamonFerguson I don’t know what happens when you’re roaming. Will try to find out. One option would be to go back to carrier VM whenever roaming.

DamonFerguson,

@gruber That’s what I’d assume, that the phone looks to see if it is roaming on another network and simply doesn’t pick up. But another point of clarification: is the carrier’s system simultaneously recording the voice mail’s audio as the iPhone “eavesdrops”? It doesn’t seem the recording would be phone-side as voice mails must still be recorded on the carrier’s side when the phone is powered off, in Airplane mode, etc.

@davemark As I recall you have a HomePod, yes? If so, would you do me a favor, and ask Siri to “play classical music”? Mine respond “I couldn’t find that in your Apple Music library.” It worked yesterday. I don’t run betas of HomePod OS. Thanks in advance!

DamonFerguson,

@davemark Follow-up: it did work correctly the next day. 😁
