@ivory my timeline occasionally freezes up and doesn’t load new posts for hours at a time. Ivory is a great app, but this has become frequent for the past weeks or so. a couple of people on this instance have experienced the same issue. other apps load posts just fine, along with the website.

been a huge fan since Ivory was in its testflight days, it a shame that every now and then that i cannot use it.

@vozercozer Are you sure you don't have any timeline filters enabled? If you look at the search icon in the top right corner of a timeline, do you see a dot in the middle?

@vozercozer You can try hitting the "reset account cache" button in the account settings in Ivory, but I noticed your server is running some modifications to Mastodon and I'm guessing one of the custom settings there is probably causing this issue. The only way to tell would be for you to set up a test account on a regular mastodon server somewhere and see if you have the same issues. It's just so hard to troubleshoot servers that run software different than what we are building for.

Hey @ivory how do I request a feature? Can you support server announcements please. This is a great way for server admins to notify users of upcoming changes or maintenance windows.

OK, so while I do like being able to see Toots from folks on Threads, it is now kind of annoying that "quote posts" from Threads are just links to Threads, and I really don't ever want to give anything Zuck owns my clicks or attention.

Wonder if @ivory cld add some magic to their amazing Mastodon client to fetch the threads text/images and inline them.

@ivory I think this is a UI bug where the action icons are partly off the bottom. I think this is the first glitch I’ve ever seen in the Matrix. Let me know if you need any more information. Love your work. Ivory is fantastic 😁

@ivory, hey 🐛 bug report: I have poll notifications turned off but I still get notifications for them. Been like this for quite a while, not sure when it started. Have you heard this from others? Thx!

@leonoverweel Those options are for push notifications, not in app. We will be revamping the notifications tab completely in the near future and you'll be able to turn off specific notification types in there.

@ivory Hi guys, I've been having trouble uploading a panorama photo from an iPhone - it's a JPEG, but when uploaded appears only as a black rectangle. Is this an issue with the app or Mastodon? Or something else?

@paulk_ It's actually a double tap, not single. There's no way to prevent that action aside from not double tapping.

So @ivory NEVER, and has never, synced across devices for me. If I look at my recent notifications (bell icon) on my Mac, the dot underneath goes away. Open my phone sometime later, dot is still there even though I haven't gotten any more notifications.

@jackmcconnell What does your iCloud status look like in our settings? And assuming you are using the same iCloud account on Mac and iOS?

@jackmcconnell And you've read the part on how iCloud sync works? Most people just don't have a clear understanding of how it is supposed to work. You have to wait for it to sync before you start scrolling your timeline around.

@jackmcconnell As a test, lets do this:

  1. Launch the app on Mac and iOS.
  2. Scroll to the top of your home timeline on both.
  3. On iOS, scroll down a few posts to something recognizable and then leave the app.
  4. Wait a few minutes and see if your timeline on Mac updates to that same spot.

@jackmcconnell Make sure "pin to top" isn't turned on in the Mac app and if you have any sort of VPN/firewall software running on your devices, I'd try turning them off too to see if they are blocking sync.

@jackmcconnell Syncing seems to work fine based on your response. It's just the unread dots that sometimes don't clear until you go to that tab right? Seems like this happens occasionally and we will look into it.

@ivory Is there any way other than a full cache purge to get a stale list to refresh? I find I have to make a point of loading each of my lists on each device every couple of days or they’re just lost on that device unless I reset cache which also resets reading position.

@LasseOK This is something Mastodon has to build support for. I'm sure it will get better as Threads continues to integrate with activitypub.

@ivory I regularly get image previews, but when I click on the image I get a blank screen. Is there any way to force the image to download?

@lkanies Can you explain what's happening? You see the thumbnail fine, but the full size image won't load?

@lkanies It's probably something server/network related. If this was an issue with Ivory, we'd be getting more complaints about it. We've experienced this on occasion and it's because our server was backed up at the time or just didn't download/cache the large image.

It's just hard to diagnose. Try different networks (get on/off wifi? different wifi network?), or maybe even a test account on another instance (mastodon.social?) and seeing if you experience the same thing there.

@lkanies Could also potentially be some vpn/firewall software that happens to block certain requests. We've had customers have that issue as well.
