I’m excitedly waiting upon a new bag of coffee beans that should arrive today. Someone here mentioned Raglan Roast’s Brown Lightning was their go to, so I’m giving it a try.

ETA: Oh, I haven’t done this week’s photo challenge yet, I’ll try to get to that today.

My coffee arrived at about 10:30, broke straight into it. Not bad, but I do find brand new coffee a bit acidic, I think there are preparation strategies but I’m no good at it.

I drink coffee for the taste (and to hold a warm mug). I often drink decaf, or cut the caffenated stuff with decaf for lower caffeine but better flavour.

I can’t drink tea, I just don’t like I’ve tried to like it but have made no progress.

Oh wow, good luck! I haven’t had to dive that deep yet, sounds like something I need to avoid looking at until my skills are better 😆

Christmas things stay in December but I’ll buy hot cross buns any time of the year, if I can find them.

Yeah but my mother in law makes some beautifully potent aged eggnog and so storebought just isn’t on my shopping list even at christmas.

This looks delicious! Like an ad, except using a real burger.

From the article it sounds like Interislander is NZ owned (by kiwirail, a state owned enterprise) but Bluebridge is not NZ owned.

What should be used for anonymous usernames?

More often than not, the best way to hide is to simply blend in with the crowds – this also encompasses one’s choice for a username. It is relatively simple to make a single throwaway account – just come up with a username, and off you go – however, if one makes throwaway accounts often, the task of thinking of a unique,...

I normally use the lastpass username generator, though fair warning, they will try to sell you lastpass.

No, I don’t use lastpass at all. Just the username generator.

Hosting Images for Website?

I have a Wordpress site and recently ran into the problem of having too many images for my hosting services. But my job involves photography, so I was wondering where a good starting point would be to set up a physical server in my home to host all my photos for my website on Wordpress. Is that possible? I don’t know where to...

OP, please do this. If you are dealing with other people’s photos professionally, a home server is in no way adequate storage for that except as part of a proper backup policy (3, 2, 1 or something else with redundancy).

Limiting lending to three times income seems good in theory, but there are issues, or at least the devil is in the details.

The main problem I see is that it’s easy to hide income. You could say all purchases have to be through individuals (not companies or trusts), but then you’ve just destroyed the one industry that is creating more houses for the growing number of people. Large-scale developments are not possible for individuals. You could exempt new homes, which might work?

I like this bit from one of the other lecturers:

My precise answer to the question of whether we can ever solve the housing crisis is no.

There is a direct and clear explanation for my view: what I describe as “commodification of the problem”

It’s not a problem to those that are benefiting, and so it won’t change until they stop benefiting.

For sure. Since no one was hurt (so far), I think we are allowed to have a laugh.

Maybe it was deliberate? There’s no such thing as bad PR, I bet when Bluebridge hit the media they got a bunch of new bookings, Interislander just wanted to cash in too.

An incident like this wouldn’t put me off sailing with them. Like you said, they do so many that things like this are almost expected.

I think the vast majority of people will be looking at two things:

  1. Which is cheaper
  2. Which is scheduled at a time that suits them

I’d guess very few people look further than those two things.

I hope it had a lot of pictures!

That lemon tree is lucky to have you! If it was at my house it would be dead by now 🙁

Birds here make sounds that are very similar to the timer on our oven going off. I guess we might have trained them to sing like that 😄

Dave,

If it’s been going off enough to teach the birds then the alarm has probably been driving the neighbours nuts!

You can do it! You’ve got this!
