Lol they are complaining about how many special votes we get in elections, but isn’t it pretty widely known that special votes tend to lean left?

I don’t watch that much so it takes me forever to get through things, but I’m currently working on Star Trek Lower Decks season 3. I have also started watching Babylon 5, but it’s a sci fi show from the 90s so it remains to be seen whether it still holds up. I’m only 2 episodes in so it’s hard to say, but I suspect it will only be a good watch if you’re nostalgic for 90s sci fi.

I’ve also recently watched through all of Star Trek Picard, which was decent enough but it was basically about getting the old crew back together so if you haven’t already watched Star Trek: The Next Generation then you’ll probably not enjoy it as much.

Lots of Star Trek on my list but only cause they are really pumping them out these days. Also started watching 11.22.63 a while back but got distracted. I enjoyed the book (a recent-ish Stephen King novel) and it’s got a decent rating on IMDB so should be a good watch.

I look forward to it!

Plans for permanent cycleway in Wellington suburb on hold (www.rnz.co.nz)

Wellington City Council have put plans to build a permanent cycleway in Brooklyn on hold after losing over half of its funding. Waka Kotahi was expected to fund 51 percent through the Transport Choices fund, however Transport Minister Simeon Brown confirmed there would be no funding for the project in December....

Anyone know what the difference is between the trial bike lane and the proposed one?

Dave,
@Dave@lemmy.nz avatar

This is a real WTF, the guy just elbows an old lady in the face leaving her in a critical condition in hospital. It’s all in the video so don’t watch if you don’t want to see that.

I’ve just posted an update on the lemmy.world federation saga: lemmy.nz/post/10046390

TL;DR things should get better soon.

Sorry @FloofahNZ for creating a solution just days after you made a new account 😆, I only got the offer for help over the weekend.

Haha yes, my inbox going crazy is one way I knew it was working!

An update, we are up to date with Lemmy.world! Aussie.zone still in dire straights, but I have messaged to see if they are aware and to offer assistance.

graph showing last 30 days where activities behing lemmy.world grew and grew for lemmy.nz and aussie.zone, with lemmy.nz sharply falling to 0 over the last couple of days and aussie.zone still increasing

Dave,
@Dave@lemmy.nz avatar

Yeah it’s pretty awesome that a server has reached the level of activity where this started to become an issue. The underlying issue should be solvable in lemmy, and people are working on it, but it takes time because there is no obvious and perfect solution. It’s awesome that there are people able to create these interim solutions in the meantime.

Without seeing a specific case, my guess is they aren’t on a Lemmy.world community.

The community is responsible for federation. So for example if you are looking a post on a lemmy.ml community, if a Lemmy.world user comments then that comment will come to Aussie.zone via Lemmy.ml not via Lemmy.world. If federation with Lemmy.ml is fine, then you will see that comment straight away even though it’s from a Lemmy.world user.

If you’d like your pictrs storage to grow 10 fold, you can check out Lemmy Community Seeder 😆

Wait, yours doesn’t have memes or star trek? I’m not sure if there’s anything here that’s not memes or star trek!

Dave,

About 15 hours behind right now, not long until we are up to date!

We absolutely sell in those markets. Grass fed beef and A2 milk are two examples. If you’ve been overseas, you can look for “New Zealand” on menus to see what’s considered higher quality than a commodity.

Dave,
@Dave@lemmy.nz avatar

I don’t know, but I don’t think it matters. It’s easy to switch to if your main market is taken up from lab milk, A2 and Fontera actually fought each other as Fonterra blocked them from encouraging farmers to breed A2 cows. If needed we could solve that.

But the point was you said we don’t sell premium products which isn’t true at all. And when lab milk takes over the bulk of dairy, there will still be global auctions for “real” cow milk, because there will still be a market for it.

Dave,
@Dave@lemmy.nz avatar

I will be very surprised if this change comes so fast we can’t handle it like normal market changes.

Dave,
@Dave@lemmy.nz avatar

Isn’t Switzerland the place they keep the cows in a barn and grow the grass separate, then cut and feed the grass to the cows?

I think they also have much smaller herd sizes than NZ.

Dave,
@Dave@lemmy.nz avatar

I appreciate the effort that went into this 😀

Ah I forget about AI 😆. Best to take credit for it anyway!

Not all uses of such weapons are prohibited by treaty. The present invention is capable of delivering lethal and non-lethal toxins, including any agent that can be carried and administered by a mosquito.

I’m sorry but WTF. This is a patent about using mosquitoes to deliver lethal toxins? How is this not prohibited by chemical warfare treaties? Only legal if you use it against your own citizens?
