Delusion6903,

I agree with you on this much of the time. Especially on sites today that have ads. The fediverse doesn’t have that problem.

But the mobile web interface isn’t that great yet for Lemmy. Pixelfed’s web interface is so good I debate whether or not to use an app but Lemmy isn’t there yet.

[SOLVED] Debian-based package repo not updating?

The updater extension keeps telling me that there is a new version of the browser available (122.1.0-2) but it’s been over a week since the version’s release and even though I have the .deb repo installed the new version has not been installed yet. I check for updates daily and there do not appear to be any errors in the...

Delusion6903,

hmmmm. I’m still on 122.1.0-2 but I’m using flatpak. Does that sound right?

What's a good phone now that doesn't force ads on me?

I’m using a Pixel 6 Pro right now, and I’m looking around to see if there are any good phones. However, I have heard that there are ads in the newer flagship phones (Samsung, Xiaomi). I am willing to spend around USD$750 on a new phone, but I just don’t want any crazy ads or preinstalled apps like Facebook. Are there...

Delusion6903,

I love librewolf too but there is no mobile version. And don’t say mull because that refresh rate makes it unusable.

Delusion6903,

I would use mull if they only increased that refresh rate. But as it is now, I use Firefox on mobile in the strictest tracking protection mode and UBO.

Delusion6903,

Thank you for your effort, but I honestly already knew all this. What I want to know is why one couldn’t simply report 60hz to fingerprinters while, in reality, maintaining the highest possible rate in the browser.

I don’t want to turn off resist fingerprinting but that refresh rate ruins the browser for me.

Delusion6903,

I use Summit for now. I went through quite a few others but this one is a keeper.

Delusion6903,

The gay marriage thing is not a good look now, but it’s worth noting that he’s not trying to abolish it today.

And the referral link things is also old and it was walked back after it was discovered.

Choose your tools based on your needs because everyone will have some politics you don’t like.

Delusion6903,

As far as I know, you are correct. My main browser is Librewolf and search engine is DDG. But I still use Brave when I rarely need a chromium browser or alternate search engine and he gains nothing from that.

Delusion6903,

I enjoy Firefox as my default android browser because I enjoy the best reader mode and extensions like Dark Reader and UBO. 400+ extensions is more than enough for me. Last time I checked, Chrome offered zero extensions on mobile. It tracks me and sends ads.

Delusion6903,

I know nothing about kiwi or yandex. Maybe the next time I’m checking out alternative browsers I’ll take a look. Do they have desktop and mobile versions?

Delusion6903,

I just like to run a browser on my laptop which can sync with the browser on my phone

Delusion6903,

I don’t think Windows is suitable as a daily driver for most people’s personal computers. For some business seeking MS support… maybe.

Mozilla names new CEO as it pivots to data privacy (fortune.com)

Mozilla Corp., which manages the open-source Firefox browser, announced today that Mitchell Baker is stepping down as CEO to focus on AI and internet safety as chair of the nonprofit foundation. Laura Chambers, a Mozilla board member and entrepreneur with experience at Airbnb, PayPal, and eBay, will step in as interim CEO to run...

Delusion6903,

I’m on Linux and have used Bitwarden for years. If it is better on some other os, I don’t know how. I’m certainly not feeling a need for improvement.

Delusion6903,

Mull would be perfect if it weren’t for the stuttery scrolling. It doesn’t refresh the screen as quickly as Firefox for some reason.

Delusion6903,

I wondered why they did this. I love the idea of Mull but the screen frequency makes it unusable. They can’t set it higher but just report 60hz or something? Is there no way to change that?

Delusion6903,

Too bad people on mastodon don’t have the ability to block an instance they find objectionable for themselves-- oh wait.

Not sure about Lemmy, but we can do this on mastodon. I don’t need someone else deciding for me.

Tldr? Couldn’t disagree more

Delusion6903,

I look forward to the additional people Threads could bring here. Once the conversations are both directions I think many people will migrate to this side to avoid ads and Meta.

Delusion6903,

I’m not banned. I can do anything from the web interface. Voyager seems to have a problem with discuss.online

Delusion6903,

I’m on Android. Voyager was not working well with the beta software used on my instance so I finally gave up and switched to Summit

hk, to librewolf

Can I clear cookies upon closing LibreWolf and then have it reopen previous tabs upon startup? As I understand it, activating the "Delete cookies and site data when LibreWolf is closed" option also triggers the "Clear history when LibreWolf closes" setting, preventing LibreWolf from restoring the previous session upon startup.

Delusion6903,

I use an extension to delete history after a week.

Delusion6903,

The refresh rate doesn’t bother you? If I could crank that up I’d love Mull.
