And ok, there are stops between Paris and Nuits-sous-Ravières but normally more get off than get on at Sens, Joigny etc.

And yes I just booked on a later one and took the 13:35 earlier one

@jon Does that train have free seat reservation? Maybe there isn't any seat fully available at all times for the whole length of your trip.

I mean, I can understand there'll be cases of that happening under certain circumstances.

@jon Interesting, so monthly pass travellers don't have to reserve their trip? Then the system sometimes wrongly guesses how many non-reservation travellers might be and leaves the train half empty.

And we're in the digital era, they say...!

Broke the bike trailer coupler yesterday

It’s a German trailer - Croozer. And I’m in France currently. The only stockist of just this part I can find is in Freiburg 🇩🇪 and their online shop won’t send to 🇫🇷

That 🇪🇺 Single Market, eh?

So I’m going to try my luck with a Chinese generic one from Amazon instead 😡

@jon I'm tired of shopping borders within the EU. I tried to buy a CPU in Italy and my order was cancelled. "Sorry, we don't ship outside of Italy".

It's obvious - at the individual level - that taking the train (rather than the plane or car) is the green choice

But something nags at me

How relevant are railways, really, to Europe's green transition?

Without a major increase in modal share (which we're not getting) I worry

@jon Train links don't expect you to follow the signs. And if the train is late as you say, the other train to Huelva might be waiting for the AVE passengers even if it's late itself.

Employees usually are allowed to take passengers through shortcuts so you don't have to pass security again and lose your link (like in Madrid-Atocha).

@jon Anyway, that Sevilla-Huelva line is the worst. Nobody takes it because the (direct) bus is faster (with hourly frequencies). So the train timetable is bad, and then nobody cares about it in an endless cycle.

Also, regional railroads in Sevilla area are prone to floods (old paths from the XIX century). So when we have heavy rainfalls (like past week) they have to move the service to a bus. Lame, I know.

@jon That's what we get in exchange for the huge investment costs of the high-speed lines elsewhere. We have the second longest high-speed railway network in the world behind China, after all.

Also, we had a regional line Sevilla-Granada that worked decently and they replaced the tracks between Antequera-Granada to repurpose them for the Madrid-Granada high-speed line. And now the Sevilla-Granada service is baaaaad. -__-

Ask ChatGPT "What is" a penis, a clitoris, a g spot, a labia, a scrotum, a vulva, etc. Every anatomical term relating to a man results in an answer, and every term relating to a woman yields an answer that is quickly replaced with "this content may violate our content policy." Lady parts are bad, mmkay!?
