Apparently financial analysts are excited about the Netflix password crackdowns and new ad infested tiers - and the stock is rising.

I predict - although nobody knows the future - but a loooooota people are only holding onto Netflix until the last season of Stranger Things is aired.

Then the customer subscriber numbers are gonna TANK HARD.

Buy a book from the publisher, they say.
Even if it's more expensive, they say.
Especially if they are local to your country.

So, as I cannot attend the 'Realms of Imagination' exhibit at the British Library, I bought the accompanying book - from the British Library directly.

It is hardback, sturdily constructed with marbled end papers and beautifully bound ~upside down ~.

Greta Gerwing did a video (for vogue I think?) Which outlined all the films she recommended that people watch if they want to see what influences she drew on when making the Barbie Movie.

That was fun. Educational and also it was cool seeing allusions and Easter eggs confirmed

But now that's a thing?

Directors are giving viewers homework to watch after I've seen their movie?

I miss Maplins.

Maplins was a UK electrical store chain that sold consumer electronics, and was pretty much the only high street chain for any hobbiest

You could walk into a store with something, take it to back desk - say "what is this and how do I connect it to this and not blow myself up / start a fire" and they could tell you AND sell you the required kit - at a reasonable price!

Nowhere does this any more outside of Maker clubs/groups.

Aaaaah Nimona is up for an Oscar this year which is probably why Netflix just put the entire film up for Free on YouTube 😒.

Nimona is fantastic and deserves to be seen by as many people as want to view it - but that feels like a cheap stunt by Netflix (and it will probably backfire).

For years I've been aware of Wuthering Heights, but never read the book, and somehow managed to never see any of the film adaptations.

The Kate Bush song is excellent though.

Just read a book synopsis and am deeply uncomfortable with the fact the story is still considered Romantic (it most definitely is NOT), and also that the story ends with a woman (unknowingly) marrying her First Cousin !!

4 episodes into Star Trek Prodigy and it's so staggeringly good.

Am utterly perplexed at the decision to cancel / remove it from Paramount streaming.*

So glad it's getting a second season here's hoping for a third !

Today had the most frustrating, infuriating conversation with Mother who has a head full of conspiracy theory rubbish & Pseudo science including (but not limited to:

  • Lockdowns weren't because of Covid
  • No Vaccines work
  • Catching COVID is 'No worse than a bad cold'
  • She can make a 'strong' Chicken and Garlic (plus secret herbs?!) soup which cures covid
  • Not wanting to catch COVID is 'Living my Life in Fear of the inevitable'.

Am so sad & exhausted of all this
