To some extent I can understand it, it’s very normal to have both of those things just for the sake of it in today’s media, to that guy it might look even more rampant than to you and I.
Similarly, I personally like manga/anime but kinda hate how fanservice gets inserted with little to no consideration on how it affects a scene (and it seems to happen in most works aimed at a male demographic, can’t speak for all genres), if I want to see some actual skin I can always look up porn.

To me it seems like lots of bastions of social media are crumpling, but as a previous active reddit user, I've been personally effected. Is this just a frequency illusion or has something changed...
They just happen to be reaching a breaking point to you, because of how tendencies work, most people reach a breaking point at roughly the same time.
Analogous to this, think of how when you’re in a shitty relationship, you don’t break up for one red flag or another, eventually you reach a breaking point and decide to not deal with the bs anymore, but when you look back you realize you were in a sea of red flags and should’ve ended it a long time ago… Either that or you never reach your breaking point and just sink lower and lower and become more miserable. That’s about how it goes with most things in the consumer world. It’s a good thing that we reach these breaking points, otherwise things never improve.
Are you guys tired of the "Material You" design? I don't really like the huge paddings on everything aspect of it. Also a lot of it feels too flat. What do you guys think?
I’m pragmatic, as long as it’s easy on the eyes and conducive to read (in the sense in which you “read” an image, can’t think of a better word), I’m good. I have always tended to cram everything and the kitchen sink in one screen and the push for material you has taught me the importance of a clean composition.

I think for most it was just a feel-good move, like carbon offsetting or belittling people for using plastic straws, once the idea of getting serious about it was put on the table, suddenly people started rationalizing the abandonment of any "efforts" they made.
I don't think anyone changed their minds aside from maybe a few honest and naive folks (I might be one, didn't think twice about how pointless it was to promise I'd be back until I saw a video from Luis Rossman slapping me with reality, though I was planning on an indefinite blackout because that's what I thought the plan .)
Can we get a consensus on whether our community should de-federate with servers that host loli? I personally think we should block them, and if that ends up not being the consensus here then I'll probably sign up on another server. I hope we can all agree to set that boundary though because I like it here and it seems otherwise...
I'm just checking out Lemmy for the first time so I'm not up to speed entirely on how everything works, but isn't the point of the system that you chose where to create or move your account so you can choose a community that already blocks stuff? I personally chose one that had nothing blocked and was blocked by nothing to start and intend to move to somewhere else if I see the need.
