A few to add in:

Solasta: Crown of the Magister - Old school D&D and tactics RPG. It's indie so has rough edges here and there, but it's so fun, and there aren't a ton of games that fill the void.

Dungeon of the Endless - It's a tower defense / tactical game with great pixel art and one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar - Excellent RPG that will remind you of old school Final Fantasy.

Tower of Time - Excellent tactical RPG

Detroit: Become Human - Cinematic narrative game about androids becoming self aware.

The Dark Anthology: Man of Medan - Cinematic narrative horror game, the first in a series of several, therefore if you enjoy there's a lot more where that came from. (Made by the same studio that created Until Dawn.)

Weird.

Some kind of bug.

I was replying to a thread about the Steam Sale.

That's a pretty kickass statement.

Walking away from a 7,000,000 user subreddit is a BFD.

Those same Americans will just ignore that there are other candidates and it'll be yet another presidential election where 49% of voters claim that they don't really support the person they vote for, and that you have to do the same as a moral imperative.

And, as it's been since Reagan, no matter who we elect we'll only get conservative outcomes.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

And I say this all as a market socialist, so don’t for a second think I like the Dems

I acknowledge your point-of-view.

And yes, I plan to vote for third party personally. For most of my adulthood I've done just that, and seeing the Democrats' inaction on domestic terrorism and fascism, it feels like my vote was wasted in 2020. From where I am at this point, there's no meaningful difference between the two parties. On the issues I care about, they're exactly the same:

Education unaffordable Health care unaffordable Minimum wage - $7 going on 15 years Housing scarcity - Ignored by both parties, getting worse War, permanent and endlessly funded, and now we're funding other country's wars too LGBT issues - Symbolic actions only, no ERA and probably never will be Abortion - Roe lost when Dems had a majority. Their response was to fundraise. Religion - Both parties nearly entirely Christian and give billions in free public money to Christianity every year Gun Control - None Fascism - One party supports it. The other party does nothing meaningful to stop it.

If I still had student loans I'd be even more vehemently third party, seeing as how Biden doesn't even need Congress to cancel student debt. It really just seems like people vote for promises and speeches in full knowledge that the candidate they're voting for isn't going to actually follow through on any of them, unless it's something like war, because true bipartisanship only exists for the worst things.

I need more than pretty speeches and broken promises.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

so don’t for a second think I like the Dems

I'd hope you wouldn't. On any issue that matters to their voters they're effectively no different than Republicans. The minimum wage/living wages, housing scarcity, war (and endless funding for it), cost-prohibitive education and health care, equality for queer people, militarization of police, fascism (or ignoring it), gun control, and oddly, we can now add abortion to the list after their response to Roe repeal was to fundraise. (Even though they had control of Congress and the presidency.) They did make a cool 80 million, though, so that's something: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/democrats-pull-in-80-million-following-supreme-court-ruling-on-roe

I can't convince myself that voting Democrat is a moral action anymore. That they say nicer things doesn't matter much when they're voting records and policies are conservative and regressive. Republicans may stab me in the back but Democrats stab me in the front.

I need more than pretty speeches and broken promises, and really, so does this country.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

No.

My argument is that the two parties are functionally the same. You're voting for fascism no matter which lever you pull. The difference is between perpetrator and collaborator.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

I appreciate your opinion. I've outlined why I feel that way further up in the thread.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

Respectfully, you just watched women lose the right to abortion a year ago when Democrats had the presidency and control of Congress. Their response was to use it to raise money, not act in any way to stop it or create positive change.

There are so many more examples of this too.

You voted for deterioration, and so did I. That's not a matter of opinion, but of historical record.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

It makes me sad to say it, but I think it's only going to get worse.

For the last 40 years most voters in this country cast their vote based on party, not based on voting record. This has led to a country where nearly every race is between two neoconservatives, and neoconservatives of red and blue stripes are authoritarian. It wasn't that long ago that our supposedly liberal president campaigned on a BLM platform and then called for more police funding (ie, more police militarization) in his SOTU address.

A lot of people say we don't give cops enough respect. I say we respect them way, way more than they deserve.

Do you ever feel like art "art" is not your thing? [Question/Rant I guess]

I do, most of the time. I've always felt creative, I always have thousands of ideas and concepts for anything, be it a drawing, a song or a text of any kind, but regardless of what it is, anytime I sit down and try to make something I hate it, I hate it so deeply it disgusts me and kills any will to continue whatever it is I'm...

I'm a professional artist, and TBH, I want to burn every painting I make after the first layer. Like anything else, one just has to trust the process and do the work. If you work in oils it's a little more expensive for material, but it takes a few days for the layers to dry, so you have plenty of time to make sure you like the decisions you made.

Observe.

I've been lucky enough to spend the last ten years of my life in walkable neighborhoods, and yes, they're pretty glorious. People get to know you and your pets, and they watch out for your place when you're not there, and you do the same for them.

The sense of community is palpable, and when your brain is broken like mine, it's nice when people are kind to you.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

Oh, hell yes.

In my old neighborhood the cats were Cheddar and Duke. Two big, regal boys who got love on whatever patio they decided to nap on a given day.

Better give Koto his pets at least.

One has to respect their furry neighborhood kings.

Bunny that lives near my house. (beehaw.org)

This bunny lives near my house. It was up against my neighbor's house avoiding the rain. We think there's a bunny warren right there with some baby bunnies. I just wanted to pick up this cute bun and cuddle it, but I knew that it would run away. (And, besides, it's usually not a good idea to cuddle wild animals.) It was sitting...

I love it!

We have a ton of bunnies around my neighborhood. One of the neighboring suburbs here in Kansas City stopped its coyote trapping program, and that seems to have had the effect of pushing the rabbit populations into other parts of the city.

My dogs love it when they see one.

Every history book I've ever read seems to indicate that our species tends toward using new technology for the worst purposes.

When all you care about is the team color a politician is wearing, this is what you get. It's what people voted for.

I love this idea. After watching how irresponsible our state was with kids' health and education these last three years, it might be time to give students a real, legitimate voice in their own public schooling.

I’d far rather not tax children than give them access to running anything connected to law.

Agreed, but if they're being taxed, they deserve a vote.

Young adults who embrace "lying flatism" also tend to see romantic relationships as unnecessary for happiness (www.psypost.org)

Lying flatists refuse to participate in consumerist lifestyles, such as pursuing high-paying jobs, purchasing material possessions, getting married, or...

I've had my heart broken three times in my adult life. Each time it took years of therapy and emotional work to get back to a point where I didn't feel the ache and the loss.

You couldn't pay me to get into another relationship, not when it's taken so much work to find peace and contentment on my own.
