I would. These banks are and have always been highly corrupt, which will happen when you aren’t properly regulated. There’s just no reason not to gamble with people’s money (off the books of course) since Uncle Sam will pay you back the losses out of public money.

Imagine you’re planning a big party and you’ve set a budget for how much you can spend on food, decorations, and entertainment. To stick to your budget, you decide not to include the cost of some items, like extra snacks and drinks, in your official party budget. Instead, you plan to buy these items using separate money that you haven’t counted in your main budget.

In this analogy, your official party budget is like a bank’s balance sheet, which shows all the assets and liabilities they officially recognize. The extra snacks and drinks are like off-balance sheet assets—they’re costs and commitments that exist but aren’t included in the main budget (or balance sheet) that everyone sees. Just like how not accounting for these extra items might make your party budget look more manageable, keeping assets off the balance sheet can make a bank’s financial health appear better than it actually is, potentially hiding risks or liabilities.

The major social media sites were programmed to feed people content that convinces them that their opinions are fully valid while also keeping them perpetually angry, all to keep their eyeballs glued to ads.

When content synthesized by AI gets more sophisticated, we won’t be able to tell the difference.

It’s a lot of fun.

I’ve also been in VR a lot this week, watching The Faceless Lady in the creepy cabin on Meta Horizon, and last night I went to a Doja Cat concert in VR too.

Gave up Dragons Dogma 2 at 120 hours.

Played a shit-ton of Vampire Survivors this week and I’m thinking I may pick Jedi: Fallen Order back up. Jedi: Fallen Order was hard for me to get into because, while it has a fantastic opening act, normal difficulty was too hard and easy was way too easy, which made it tough to get into.

When American business interests just decided to unite and collectively steal all of the IP on the Internet, it was always going to end up in the courts. After 120 hours, I finally got bored with Dragon’s Dogma 2.

So I’m picking back up Solasta: Crown of the Magister. I also dusted off my VR rig and I’m playing the Affected: The Manor, a horror/haunted house game.

It’ll be fun.

First, you should put this in air quotes: “a major healthcare reform”. It’s only a reform if you the consumer can absorb the price gouging required to access our health care system in the first place.

Secondly, Obama had a supermajority for a time. He could have done anything if he’d have been willing to do the work.

Americans can’t eat excuses, and for me at least, it’s no longer acceptable to simply be slightly less conservative than the other conservatives.

Respectfully, the “fight them there so we don’t fight them here” and “help them stand up so we can stand down” nonsense is straight out of the chickenhawks’ war branding guide. Our government wasted tens of trillions on these meaningless platitudes in Afghanistan and Iraq, and those boondoggles led to the rise of ISIS.

Meanwhile I can look over the border and see Mexico spending a mere 8 billion a year on war and Canada a mere 26 billion. Meanwhile we’re up to a trillion and a half this year, but sure, it has nothing to do with the housing crisis or the standard of living in this country. We’re definitely not neglecting our own people to feed an insatiable war machine.

Frankly, I’m sick of watching our government impoverish our people to pay for more super yachts for warmongers.
