If we were concerned about fascism we wouldn’t be happily funding Israel’s genocidal apartheid.

But we are.

And the two leading contenders for the presidency both support it 100%.

Wow.

I’m a little shocked, but good on you Biden.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

Because he’s promised a lot of things that he’s done next to nothing about. That’s why.

It’s going to be really depressing to see how little people care about this when the split is 49% to 49% in November too.

Stories like this are why you’ll never convince me there’s a good and just god somewhere in the sky.

It’s just in our nature.

Our whole history as a species has consisted of tribal warfare of some flavor.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

Can’t blame them.

The US loves being in a dozen wars at once, and our people even support funding other countries’ wars now. We’re the most prolific warmongers on the planet.

FlashMobOfOne,

It would be really nice if we weren’t so vulgarly neglectful of our own people in service to war. Canada spends 26 billion a year on war. And Mexico, a mere 8 billion.

War is a blank check in this country because it makes a handful of people obscenely rich.

FlashMobOfOne,

While I’m skeptical anything would come of it, I’ve made it a ritual to wait for the $20 ticket sale every year because the fees have gotten so insane.

FlashMobOfOne,

I don’t agree with conscription.

Your country shouldn’t be able to force you to kill people, and if the US ever tried to make me, I’d flee too. War only really serves the interests of the rich anyway.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

In my opinion, that’s also unacceptable. You’re still facilitating the deaths of innocents and aiding the war machine.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

I mean, it’s legitimately a bright spot.

But with November of this year likely heralding the legitimacy of fascism in the US, it’s incumbent upon us to try enjoy the silly shit before that comes along.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

You speak as if it’s already decided.

I think it is. Trump won in 2016 because people were largely impoverished and Democrats didn’t do anything about it. The impoverishment is worse now.

BUT, that does make it more important to enjoy the silly shit. Absolutely.

Fair enough. Enjoy your awesome Neopet!

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

Yeah, there’s no way.

With our major media networks owned by billionaires, and all of them propagating the narrative that criticism of Israel = antisemitism, I think it’s a fair presumption that they all have a naughty words list.

FlashMobOfOne,

This is Democrats’ M.O. for most issues.

They spout platitudes and promises like a geyser during election season, and then when the reins of power are in their hands, they ignore pretty much every other issue and figure out ways to put money in the hands of warmongers and CEO’s.

On the issue of Israel, Democrats and Republicans have exactly the same position.

James Webb telescope confirms there is something seriously wrong with our understanding of the universe (www.livescience.com)

Astronomers have used the James Webb and Hubble space telescopes to confirm one of the most troubling conundrums in all of physics — that the universe appears to be expanding at bafflingly different speeds depending on where we look....

On a cosmic scale, I find it kind of comforting that everything is eventually going to be gone. It makes it more important to enjoy one’s time in the now.

Still on Dragon’s Dogma 2. (at 94 hours of playtime)

I’m still finding new places around every corner. It’s got a ton of fun stuff to discover if you like open-world games.

It makes me chuckle how, in a country where we’re spending a trillion and a half on war every year, if not more, half of the comments are like “but it costs too much”.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@beehaw.org avatar

That’s a caveat I can get behind.
