Gnomie,

Well done! It never crossed my mind to take multiple subs on my phone. Thanks for planting that idea in my head.

Gnomie,

Terrific! What kind of exposure times are you using?

Gnomie,

That is a very sturdy observatory. Did you manufacture all of the metal parts yourself?

As a beginner, seeing this information really helps. Thanks for including it all and you’ve made a fantastic picture.

I have a couple questions if you don’t mind: what does NB and BB mean and regarding the number of calibration frames, do those numbers represent your choice at imaging time or what remained after excluding any that you or the software didn’t like? Thanks!

Gnomie,

I get your point, and yes, it’s already moved from where it was when it was imaged. What you could see would depend on how far away you are from it. If you could now, suddenly, magically be at the edge when the photo was taken it would be some where else. Everywhere we look we’re seeing into the past.

Gnomie,

I got your point; I think you just argued my point. Nothing we image is as it “is” but rather as it “was”.

Gnomie,

Thanks!

Gnomie,

This has to be the most informative post I’ve read here. Thanks for all the info.

Factorio 2 for the peaceful player

I’m one of the persons who likes to play factorio without the aliens and the pressure that comes with them. I’ve been drooling at the weekly blog entries showing the coming factorio 2 and have wondered if it’s going to be possible to play without the aliens. I haven’t seen mention of whether they will be required other...

Gnomie,

I’ve just begun taking astrophotos and this is an amazing photo. The weather hasn’t cooperated much lately so I’m trying to understand using Siril as well as everything to do with my new telescope and camera. Did you also have a dew heater on your camera/lens? Did you take flats and bias and darks too? Sorry if too many questions, you just seem to know what you’re doing as that photo shows.

P.S. I don’t see any elongated stars. Ah, wait, I looked at the full res version on telescopius and I see the elongation. It seems to radiate away from the center of the image in all directions. More so as you leave the center. Something with the lens?

Gnomie,

Thanks for the reply and the reference to Nebula Photos; I’ll take a look there. From your photo, I see your weather was the same as mine lately. Hopefully there will be some clear skies again soon. Good luck, thanks again.

Gnomie,

Video unavailable. Screw you youtube for geo locking.

Gnomie,

That worked! Thanks

Gnomie,

Yes, I am using a VPN, doesn’t everyone yet?

Gnomie,

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I live in a country that is in blackout from f1 because of to broadcast rights. Bummer that it doesn’t work with a vpn. I’m looking forward to the YouTube killer app. YouTube seems to be doing a good job of shooting themselves lately so maybe the replacement will show up soon.

Gnomie,

This is a big issue for me too. I’ve configured my browser of choice to my satisfaction. Non-default set browser has unknown settings.

Gnomie,

ok, pipedbot, where are you? save us from having to use youtube

Gnomie,

I was a BaconReader user. I've deleted the app. Reddit is gone for me; I'm not going back.
