There is a fine line, almost ineffable, between traditional “action” writng and what I would call the “adventure” genre.

Action writing tends to be terse, bombastic, and often grim.

Adventure has a certain vivacity to it. An implicit heightened reality, where danger is joy.

I think there’s little consensus on what The Federation’s government is in Star Trek compared to modern day because it’s largely post-scarcity.

People work on what they feel like for self-fulfillment. You can join and leave Starfleet freely. Food materializes from hydrogen.

In season 1 finale for #StarTrekProdigy, the main threat is that a virus will turn starfleet ships against each other by hijacking their systems and locking them out of their command codes. The urgency of the show acts as if within a matter of hours, it will destroy the Federation, but I struggle to believe the virus' advance could outpace one non-Starfleet subspace message to #SanFrancisco which would be all they'd need to warn the rest of the fleet and buy time for an anti-virus program
