I might be wrong but I can’t recall a single time the word “star” is uttered or a star features in any plot point of Star Wars. The closest I can think of is shots of the twin suns of Tatooine.

Edit: I was wrong. Death Star, and Starkiller Base are two obvious examples.

Also, the triple-planet-killing death star in one film I think targeted the star(s) of that system. But I could be hugely misremembering.

@andrewfeeney But, to be fair to your original point, it's not like they're hiding behind the event horizon of black holes or saving colonies from solar flares.

That's more the domain of Star Trek and The Orville.

It is absolutely mind bending how many options ffmpeg has. I've been trying to convince it to use the old Radeon 2600 Pro graphics hardware acceleration. No luck finding the magic command yet! :)

@chris I forget exactly how it was phrased when I first heard it, but someone once wrote that many cloud utility businesses (not cloud providers like AWS, but individual tech startups) are basically just wrappers around unix commands.

ffmpeg is one of those commands that could spawn a whole slate of startups from its flags alone.

Sometimes I run across a YouTuber who’s really hyper - like, lots of quick motions, fast talking, darting back and forth or whatever. (Adam Savage is like this, for example.) While watching I start to feel like my heart is beating faster or something. I might rock more vigorously in my easy chair. Or lean forward more. It affects me. I feel jealous, kinda. I wish I could feel that rush they seem to live with. But alas, I am slow and lazy. Watching these people work wears me out. Time for bed.

@bigzaphod Hard same, especially the jealous bit. I wish I had Babish's energy (Andrew Rea). How Ridiculous's energy is great, but might be a bit too far for me. Savage is a good one - an engrossing storyteller.

I quietly tell myself that it's secretly all an act. And I'm sure sometimes it might be (not every day can be an A-Game day) - but if it is, it's an enviable skill.

emerson the elephant seal, a local celebrity here in - this photo was taken at the beginning of his molt, a month ago. Then they trucked him away to a distant island ...

@syntaxseed I've never seen the final episode of Almost Human for this exact reason.

And my theory is: if I never see the finale, it was never truly cancelled & lives on forever.
