i think the claim that voting “legitimizes” the system on a wider level is probably wrong. like, maybe when revolution was a live option, when there were insane people burning down army recruiter offices and sending bombs in the mail but now in the long dark winter of the class war, the system does not need our legitimacy. the popular mandate is not taken seriously. people at all levels engage with the political process as pure spectacle, no one believes they have real agency no matter the options they’re given.
the real strength of not voting is preserving your own spirit and awareness that we can still smash the shell of the egg and be born. It’s refusing to accept into yourself the poison that is faith in a god that hates you.
you can’t even get him to host it daily? at this point just shutter the show. there’s plenty of people doing good lib/progressive political comedy (and way more doing it badly), but a legacy network like Comedy Central has nothing to offer them.
it really depends. i’m a pale arab-amerikkkan. i’m perceived in most contexts as white as long as i don’t tell anyone i’m arab. if i spoke english with an accent, wore any kind of foreign or religious clothing, or had darker skin like my father, i don’t think i would be perceived like this. these are the kinds of borders of racial categories where strict definitions really start to break down, and individuals have to try to categorize you on the fly based on vibes. i won’t claim that i’ve faced serious racism directed at me, but it is jarring those times when i’m “discovered” and suddenly seen as something fundamentally different from a white person i’m talking to.
incidentally, the reason the US government counts us as white for the purposes of the census (but not for the purposes of military intervention) is because wealthy arab immigrants sued to be considered white under the de jure regime of racial segregation that oppressed black americans. yikes.

It already is designed as a sort of simplified version of Magic, where you only have one creature out at a time, there’s no interacting on an opponent’s turn, you can take all the game actions you want during your turn until you attack, and defeated Pokemon are “knocked out” rather than killed. Also from what I can tell, events at many local game stores are family-friendly and well-attended.
