Awake. Feel sleepy sided but I slept better. The sunburn itch is subsiding and this morning was first time in some days that I didn't need to immediately apply hydrocortisone cream to anyplace on my body.

Ginza was of the opinion we should continue sleeping when the alarm went off today. But I got up and so did she though she wasn't bouncy like she often is. I've had my breakfast and have fed her hers.

Today's my 6 hour workday. I hope to take a walk of more than 3 miles and a cycle ride

of more than 10 miles.

Feels so good again to be thinking about what kinds of physical activity I want to do during the day. For so long I might think about wanting to do something, but simply couldn't.

Now I can do that again.

With the way how for many many years my body had been slowly starving for macro and micro nutrients and how now I'm finally starting to get the last ones that were needed, is how incredibly hungry I get...

how incredibly hungry I get while eating and after eating, it's like my body senses the needed nutrients coming in and it makes me even hungrier because of how many years I was unknowingly deprived of what I needed.

Right now I feel really good and I'm looking forward to the bicycle ride I'll be taking around 1 PM. It seems that yesterday's very easy walk and very easy bike ride did me a lot of good. Yesterday I felt a bit physically dragged down.

But that easy walk and bike ride got blood to circulate to the legs and probably helped. In fact yesterday after I was done I seemed to feel more energetic than when I had started out.

Zone 1 can do a lot of good for an old gal like me.

Another sign of me feeling better is how I've got Youtube videos of people hiking in the Cascade Mountains playing. I'm pretty sure that in the summertime I will be feeling good enough that I would like to visit a place or two in the Cascades and walk around and hike some. Won't be thinking to do anything too adventurous, but something on the gentle side that at least lets me experience the sensations of being in really tall mountains.

To make sure I don't forget, I put the sunscreen in the bike helmet. That sunburn I got last week was horrible and it's finally fading away and not itching constantly.

Awake. A little on the sleepy side still but not too bad all considered. Still not sleeping as deeply as possible because of the sunburn itch, but that itch is subsiding some and hopefully it'll continue to subside and disappear.

I've had my breakfast and fed Ginza hers.

Going to be easy again with walking and the bike ride today. Feels like I should do it like that plus tomorrow is my short workday and I want to have more in the tank to walk and cycle with then.

My body's tolerance to chill seems to be improving. Still a lot less than most others, but I no longer need a cardigan sweater when it's in the upper 60s. I hope that continues to get better, it really sucks to feel chilled most all the time when it's not the summer.

Ginza seems to like to sun herself for a while early in the mornings when possible, but after she warms up enough, she scoots over to her hidey hole in the cat tree by the bed. #CatsOfMastodon

After having received a good solar charging, Ginza is ready to sleep and she has moved herself into the hidey hole of her cat tree by the bed.

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

Ginza loves her cat tree. I'm so glad that people here gave her and me help back when we needed help with moving and that gave us breathing room and also a chance to get her a cat tree. I think it really helped her deal with the move here and gave her a place to claim as her own while we waited for her cat beds and other familiar objects to come across the country. Not a great picture, but it shows her curled up inside the tree's hidey hole space. #CatsOfMastodon

Took a very easy paced bike ride after work, for the first time ever I was able, for some of it, keep the heart rate down in zone 1, the rest of it was down on the low end of zone 2. So that's a good sign that my cardio system is improving. I found it very pleasant to ride like that, just look around at the scenery and think some about things.

It's probably a good idea for me to try do good chunks of time down in zones 1 and 2. My fitness and health was so wiped out, I'm starting from zero.

Awake. Woke up early because of itchiness from sunburn I got on Thursday and Friday. I hope that eases up soon and lets me get back to sleeping more comfortably and deeply. Other than that, I feel pretty good physically which is amazing after a weekend where I cycled 23.5 miles and did a decent amount of day to day stuff. The body is working properly again, it's getting all the ingredients it needs to rebuild and improve after exercise.

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

It's Monday so I'll be working today and this point it'll be good to take it easy. Just a short easy walk and a short easy bicycle ride will be plenty. And eat at least 3 good meals.

Had a long snuggle session with Ginza last evening. She just loves it when I sit on the bed and let her rub against me and headbutt me and times when I pet her and scratch the sides of her head. She purrs strongly enough one could almost feel the bed itself vibrating.

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

I thought about the timeline of things last evening while going to sleep and realized maybe it was good that the body didn't start working properly again til recently. I mean, last summer if my body had been recovering from exercise, I wouldn't have been so homebound and I might not have put in the time every morning like I did with Ginza from August on.

So maybe it wasn't meant for my body to start recovering until I did the good deed of taming Ginza so she can live her elderly cat years

with a friend and in comfort.

But that's all post-facto reasoning that I might only be doing to make myself feel better.

Life can be super hard. It would be better if people thought more about trying to alleviate that hardness.

I will be so much happier and comfortable when the sunburn and its itchiness subside.

I've been tracking activity with a Garmin Forerunner 45 watch now for 25 days and with walking and cycling I've covered about 96 miles in that time.

Walking today felt a lot different than how it felt during the first week.

A grayscale image from today.

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

In contrast to that grayscale photo in the toot above, I once had someone advise me to eat a rainbow of colors every day and that would take care of all my nutritional needs.

That's why I eat jelly beans.

I'm again awake early. Largely because of the itchiness from the sunburn I got on Thursday and Friday. I've been using aloe vera and hydrocortisone cream to ease symptoms, but it's going to take another day or two to subside.

I should have bought sunscreen the weekend before this one. I bought some yesterday and used it, but I had already gotten burnt.

But on the good side of how I've had outdoor time 5 straight days, I've walked 11.3 miles and biked 30.9 miles. Feels so good to move again.

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

I rode 5.7 miles to get to the first significant uphill, although I put some extra distance on that portion by investigating two small spur roads, going out and back some on them.

Coasting on the downhill on the way back, the GPS says I reached 27 mph. Which felt precarious some to me but perhaps in time I will become accustomed to the feel of being on a bicycle getting up over 25 mph.

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

I intend to take an easy walk this afternoon after my lunch digests and the insulin bolus I used for it has dwindled down. That will give me walking steps and help with circulating blood to the muscles that were used while cycling this morning.

Tomorrow I will make a very easy day after Friday and this weekend. Just a gentle walk and some sort of casual bike ride of around 30 minutes.

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

2 mile walk at loafing pace. That's all I wanted, just time on my feet in the easy cardio zones and help blood circulate to the legs.

IzabelaKaramia,
@IzabelaKaramia@writing.exchange avatar

Took a shower and now feel much cleaner, but still tired. Ate a small meal before showering, I'm trying to make a goal of always eating soon after a strenuous activity, the scientific evidence seems to show that nutritional absorption is at its best in the time soon after strenuous activity.

So I've now had 3 meals today, a breakfast, an early lunch, and a late lunch or early dinner. I'm still hungry and will eat a 4th meal. Gotta feed this recovering body.
