It might be the worst type of train station, but at least it is a train station. As opposed to there not being one. I’d love any kind of trains near me.
Edit: I love the use of Cities Skylines in the video. I am excited for the sequel to come out this year.
I’ve been using an mp3 style walkman for awhile. There’s something about dedicated single purpose electronics that is so comfy. They also just work as the software is always barebones simple.
It is fine that it is subjective, but this is why reviews from a major corporation don’t make any sense. You want reviews from a large number of individuals so that you can get to know some of their taste to see if it is similar to your own. Then you can make a decent guess if you will also find the thing fun.
Not to mention these major review sites rate on a 7-10 scale which is kind of worthless. They are also effectively bribed by game studios so it is actually worse than worthless. It is actively harmful to finding out the truth.
How do I prevent this? Whenever an article gets popular it gets posted to the news community of every single instance so you have to scroll by it several times a day for a week. Is there a “prevent duplicates” option in any of the clients? I’m pretty close to abandoning lemmy honestly. There’s very little content that...
For me I have every news and politics community blocked. I’m not sure how other people use this site, but I thought of all the things I’m interested in seeing and sought out those communities with the communities search and then subscribed to them. Sometimes I’ll check the other filters if I happen to run out of things to read.
Do you have an example where using keywords in quotes doesn’t work on Google? I think if the top results don’t contain both keywords then it doesn’t exist in its index.
Oh curious. I don’t understand the use-case or how it fits in with the concept of PixelFed so I think I won’t use it. I’d like to see PixelFed get more popular, but if most of the posts are disappearing after 24 hours then it’s kind of like nobody is even using it. 🤨
Web pages of today have so much added on nonsense. It’s not necessarily data farming, but also the frameworks used to develop the website themselves. Modern websites are basically entire software running in the browser even when it is used to run a simple seemingly static page. The purpose of these frameworks is to make complex things more simple for developers to make, but then people end up using them in situations that might not call for it. I think there is a general belief that since computers keep getting more powerful that it is fine to keep making software bigger and less efficient.
It still pains me to recall that one video of a man in a hotel on the floor in full compliance with everything the officer said, but the officer still shot him anyway for absolutely no cause.
I understand that not everyone is fortunate to have money saved to be able to have the leeway to leave jobs whenever they feel like it and so forth. But I just feel like people have lost their sense of self-respect when it comes down to employment....

I feel this way about a lot of things. It seems like there are near infinite movie and tv show scripts to make things from, but if it doesn’t have some association to a thing people can recognize it is barely worth anything. Which is sad because there are likely countless amazing things sitting there unmade. Studios used to take more risk with low to mid budget stuff.
I wonder if they will use the memory restoration thing on Dusk to find out something wild about Demerzel. A couple episodes ago they went into the memory database and realized that the original Cleon had vastly more memories at the end of his life than the rest of the Dusks. I’m not sure if they explained it, but does every knew Empire absorb the knowledge of the previous or do they re-learn all of that knowledge every time they are born? At any rate some kind of memory suppression or knowledge suppression thing must be going on in their brains. They likely have some kind of built-in brainwashing that lets Demerzel control their decisions when need be.

I don’t see the relevance to my opinion that ads are bad, but it is an opinion that Lemmy developers also share. Also for the 1000th time there is nothing wrong with selling software. I just disagree with ads and data harvesting.
I give a simple personal opinion that ads are bad and people start losing their minds. You are arguing with my opinion like you can persuade me that ads are good as objective fact. You can view as many ads as you wish, but that isn’t going to change how I feel about it.
