A friend of my parents gave them a whole box of pieces of glass for doing stained glass, and they don't want it, so I grabbed a few pieces and I am grinding them up in my rock tumbler to try an experiment for ceramics class.
The rock tumbler is pleasantly quiet when full of glass versus when it's full of rocks
People on craigslist are always giving away jet ski hulls, but never jet ski engines. what are they doing with the engines? why are hulls so plentiful and engines not?
@MLE_online People stupidly don't maintain their jetski engine, blow it up, then buy a used one for a replacement engine. (and probably ultimately blow that one up ...)
@MLE_online Eh, that's a bit far (unless you find other stuff in the sale you want). You should check out the site ... I've found some great deals on it. (click locations on the top).
The hams are doing their morning fighting on the radio again.
"Wahhh, how come no one talks to me? ...
You're a piece of shit, Jimmy. When you look up sack of shit in the dictionary, there's a picture of you. You're ugly, worthless, you're just a sack of shit, Jimmy."
"At least he tries to be good though. Pat is a piece of shit, but he's not good at it. Jimmy really tries to be good at being a piece of shit."
Huffing nitrous seems to be of increasing popularity these days, which is of interest to me because people keep leaving heavy duty gas cylinders lying around after they're drained of their intoxicating gas, and I'm wondering what possible use I might find for these cylinders
I discovered quite by accident right now that my bike picks up enough of an electrical charge to shock me (my inner thighs) when I ride it underneath the very high tension power lines that cross over the river bike path.
I want to come back with a multimeter one day and see how much voltage there actually is between me and my bike
I was given one of those 12V, 1.5 watt Harbor Freight solar panels and I think it would be cool to do some kind of solar powered microcontroller project.
The friend who gave it to me said that the panel is not quite powerful enough power and ESP 32 when Wi-Fi is activated. So, that means either using an Arduino or an esp32 without Wi-Fi turned on, which limits my options.
I would like to keep it simple so I don't want to deal with batteries and a charging system. Just solar panel and microcontroller
@MLE_online Maybe hanging some number of 'super caps' on the power rails would give you enough reserve power to turn on Wi-Fi, execute some task, and then turn it back off.
Why are there so many outlet timers for letting you set something like a lamp to come on a 7 pm every night, but there are almost no outlet timers that let you turn something on and have it automatically turn off after, say, an hour, or 25 minutes, or 77 minutes?
@MLE_online Thanks, but that's the opposite. There are tons of 'dusk-to-dawn' switches out there. I was looking for a 'dawn-to-dusk", turn on in the morning, off at night.
@MLE_online The water fountain in the yard for the birds. We'd rather the water sound not be attracting Javalina, Coyotes, and other stuff at night. Have one of those timers you mentioned now, but I like the idea of daylight controlled better.
