IndieWeb of course involves owning your data, but...

Thanks to the IndieWeb developers,

• Webmention permits you to use your blog to reply to posts on other blogs,
• and also to repost, like and favorite them,
• Micropub makes your website accesible to making these actions (and of course, reading posts) via social readers, which blur the line between feed reader and your regular social media app,
• IndieAuth allows you to log into other sites using credentials from your site,
• Your website can be subscribed via WebSub,
• Post may be of different types - linked in another comment of mine.

Long story short - IndieWeb blurs the line between traditional blogging and social media - getting more social features, but without relying on silos of corporate social media, on your Fediverse instance provider, or on Mastodon monoculture. Both IndieWeb and the Fediverse pursue similar goals, but with somewhat different (although open-source) protocols. Many types of content supported by IndieWeb microformats and types may be IMHO inspiring for the next big Fediverse project. And, of course, both IndieWeb and the Fediverse would benefit greater interoperation between each other.

The difference was internet life wasn't integrated with real life yet, not like today. No one wanted to use their real name on anything, except Myspace. Message boards were self-contained islands to talk about your favorite hobby, team, band, etc. No one wanted to have a persona/brand that bridged real life and the internet. Even early Youtube was all mostly people making weird/surrealist/goofy animations and home movies with no goal of getting rich doing so. It was all for the fun of it. They didn't use their real names as their user names on Youtube. It was basically like a bigger and more mainstream version of Newgrounds.

ZTCW Mastodon jest jedyną usługą, która pozwala zweryfikować konto i uczynić je oficjalnym (bez urzędu centralnego, na podstawie wspólnej własności konta z prywatną stroną internetową właściciela). Np. Lemmy podaje użytkowników tylko z pseudonimami (bo tym jest brak weryfikacji) Co ciekawsze, /kbin (kompatybilny zarówno z Lemmym jak i pozwalającym weryfikować tożsamość Mastodonem) ignoruje mastodonowską widoczną nazwę użytkownika i metadane (w tym weryfikację), zrównując użytkowników do grona pseudonimów!

W efekcie:

• Mądrzy ludzie piszący mądre rzeczy pod nazwiskiem na masto, na /kbinie lądują tak samo jak reszta pod pseudo,
• przez co ludzie z fedi, niekoniecznie świadomi istnienia /kbina, ratują /kbinowi nie tylko objętość, ale i poziom!
