I greatly enjoyed the books (although I didn’t find them as “life-changing” as some 3BP fans I’ve seen online) and as faithful as the Tencent version was, I definitely found it a slog. There are reasons why you need to make some changes when going from one medium to another.
That being said, I feel like the Netflix version will go to the opposite extreme.
Anyone play any Star Trek Tabletop games? (Specifically STA, the SFU games from ADB, or Attack Wing/Alliance)? I wanted to get a tabletop gaming magazine together for that, but I don't know if it has a justifying interest.
Here's the "official game trailer" for Star Trek: Infinite, the new strategy game that was announced a couple days ago. Looks like it comes out on PC this fall.
I wonder if you start with the older ships and then as tech progresses, upgrade to newer classes? It looks heavily based on Stellaris (mixed feelings about that) so it might follow that trajectory.
Yep I’m done with being the product and having ads shoved in my face. Reddit was the only ‘social media’ I ever used so I’m happy to eliminate one more attack vector from my life.
Corporations cannot be trusted, at best they are necessary evils.

Carol Kane is awesome, but I kept waiting for her character to reveal she was faking the accent. It just sounded like someone doing a bit, and seemed so over the top I was sure it wasn’t serious.
Yes I played it and loved it, especially the First Contact expansion. I also bought a bunch of cards off eBay about 10 years ago that I still have kicking around somewhere. Haven’t really played it in a long time but have lots of good memories.
Yeah at this point even if Reddit walks it back I’m done being the product. Reddit was the only ‘social media’ I used anyway, one less way to be advertised to.
I would be curious about your favorite coop games. I often find them a big lacking, often being a bit unbalanced. An example is Battle for Hogwarts, where one game can be a walk in the park and another absolutely impossible and rarely is there a balanced match.
It was an awesome experience! We played it every night (sometimes twice a night) for the time it took to complete the campaign. Definitely some frustrating moments, but also some really memorable ones.

Hey I’m Kyle, from the mid-Atlantic region of the US. I got into emo during the early 2000s 3rd wave via Something Corporate that a friend let me listen to. Over time I definitely drifted way more into 2nd wave. I play a little bass guitar but not nearly good enough to do anything with it.
Well, whew! As a result of Reddit's recent spark of genius, the number of users looking for a new home has been growing at quite a brisk pace. Anyone else having issues with the sign up page? A friend of mine is trying to sign up to sopuli but after they enter their details and click ‘sign up’ it just spins endlessly. I’m assuming it’s because a lot of people are trying to sign up now?
Haha actually they did. Generated a random one to sign up with. I’ll tell them to try again with a simpler one. Thanks for the help and this is a great community you have here!
Edit: out of curiosity, what is it about the long/complex password that messes it up?

Basically looks like a reskin of Stellaris, unfortunately. Of course, I love Stellaris and will probably still get this at some point lol.

For the other dumdums like me who didn’t discover this immediately.
It only makes sense for /r/startrek to join a federated network.

Anyone else remember the TNG CCG from the 90s?
Editor's Note: Apologies if this has been discussed to death, but I figured covering old territory may be necessary as we regenerate....
