While wikipedia is decent at giving overviews on some scientific and technical topics, but when there is a topic about something that is historical and/or any way politically or monetarily relevant there will be an edit war to change it to suit one interest groups wishes or anothers. It really is a cesspool of psyops, misinformation and articles to be basically corporate PR at certain topics, and that is just because google usually gives wikipedia articles as first or second result on any given subject and it’s a really cost effective way to propagandize people and doing it is really low cost. Now Russia just monopolizes the propaganda inside their own borders.

International law in this context just means that a single global hegemon can no longer push everybody else around and call it’s will and interests “law”, and therefore claim that it’s interest somehow benevolent and part of how just things are. That is exactly what “rules based international order” means.

Not that we have ever had any law that equally applies to everybody equally. All laws and even international law needs a hobbesian Behemoth that is more powerful than any other to enforce “international law” and is in the end above it since it is at the best position to enforce and set the “law”. The UN and it’s institutions are basically basically a discussion club by design and it can’t do shit so post 1990 world the Behemoth has been the world hegemonic United states. Now that US has declined relatively as Russia, China, India, Iran, etc have risen it finds itself unable to enforce anything through hard or soft power and therefore the idea of law, stability and peace under US dissipates. Not that it was ever lawfully, peaceful or stable, that illusion only applied to the western core nations of this now dead American world.

It’s the only big non-US owned social media. They hate that because it’s much harder to control. It’s not even about the profits to be had, tiktok gets more eyeballs and especially it gets the young people’s attention and has more public thrusts than all of the MSM combined and because Bytedance doesn’t hate their HQ in the US the US government, intelligence or special interests, can’t just call them and strong arm them into censoring whatever talking point that they don’t like currently. It’s not much more complex than that. “Chinese spying on Americans” is just projection of what all the other platforms do.

Those who push this will not be happy no matter what Tiktok does or whatever concessions it makes. They already hold american data in American and EU data in the EU for example. Did that stop the “muh CCP influence” propaganda? Well, no… Their main goal would be to get Bytedance to sell the platform to Americans, atleast the american business. I guess they would rather let it get banned and sacrifice American or even all the western markets than to let that happen. It would be a loss to them either way.

All of the sanctions and European energy security were banked on the idea that Russian frontlines would collapse under the super Nato equipped Ukrainian counterattack and then there would be a regime change in Moscow and gas would flow again. Now Ukraine is on the backfoot, there is no change in Moscow and Russia oil still flows to Europe, but only through intermediaries and loopholes, because there really never was an short to medium term alternative for it in the way the global oil market is structured. The sanctions were actual serious sanctions and their architects thought that they would actually work, but the decisions were made on faulty assumptions of effectiveness of sanctions and the structure of Russia economy.

Uskon että koko artikkeli on liioittelua. Tähänkin olisi kuitenkin helppo lääke. Nimittäin tuomita Israel ja saada aikaan tulitauko ja sitten joku kestävä ratkaisu Gazan ja länsirannan suhteen. Tää on tietysti mahdotonta Euroopan hallituksille, koska jenkit ja britit seisoo kuitenkin israeli takana ja Eurooppa ei ikinä seiso yhdysvaltoja vastaan. Hamas taas on lähempänä Vietkong kuin ISISiä ja kaikki mahdollinen terrori tulee, random lone wolf toimijoiden käsistä, jos siis tulee, eikä Hamasin tai hezbollahin. Ei kuitenkaan ole Euroopan hallituksilla muuta ajatusta päässään kuin tuomita palestiinalaisten taistelu oikeudesta kotiinsa ja siten luoda ISSI:kselle ja vastaaville se tekosyy. Veikkaampa vaan että jos jotain lännessä tapahtuu niin se tullaan myös spinnaamaan siltä kantilta, ollaan nyt sodassa Israelin rinnalla “ääriliikkeitä” vastaan ja tätä sotaa voidaan käydä tukemalla Israelia entistä enemmän tavoitteeissaan luoda etnovaltionsa puskutraktorein ja pommein.

No helppo lääke on tuomita Israel ja saada aikaan tulitauko. Kestävä ratkaisu on sitten eri asia, mutta voi yksinkertaisemmillaan ottaa sellaisen muodon että toinen osapuolista murskaa toisen.

Musk-, tesla- X- and SpaceX bashing are all equally obnoxious. I’m so tired of seeing why circlejerking about how twitter sucks and reading all the articles with comments about why Tesla stock is crashing, twitter is dying and people celbrating how it’s great that some supposedly misfortune fell of Musk because of his hubris. Reverse fanboyism is as annoying as actual fanboyism for all the same reasons. To me anti musk crowd is now the more annoying one who became the thing they were opposing. So yes please shut up about Musk and ban everything concerning him for all I care.

Remember that Huawei already broke through the mobile SoC barrier that was thought to be impossible with their new chip recently? Oh I wonder what is going to happen next… Well the Chinese have been much further in their domestic GPU/AI accelerator development. They just end up creating Chinese domestic competition and at worst global competition for US tech sector. I say Washington is desperate and treading water with it’s sanction war and will end up slowing china for a bit on the short term, but en up shooting themselves in the leg on the long to medium term with this one.

problem is not on a development level, but rather on a project management and (particularly) an executive level.

In any industry as time progresses the production becomes more and more capital intensive and that needs more and bigger investors and all that capital means that there is a bigger risk and that is mitigated by the investors by requiring “their guys” to staff the management and these people are unusually really bad for the technical and actual value side of the business on the long run, because they are usually people with financial or marketing backgrounds. They fundamentally work by the logic of profit maximization and there are always easier and more surefire ways toi achieve that than with supplying a good product. It’s even worse when the end product is something that could be considered “art”. In AAA it all eventually leads into pushing bland installments under rushed deadlines for the same once successful franchise out one after another, just because that is where the risks are lowest and money is still being made.

It’s not as if there were not enough assmad mods (and users) who hated seethed over the place already. This was just the reason to get it over with, because “Issrael hecking has the right to flatten terrorist Gaza and anybody who says otherwise is an anti-semite and a tankie.” Thats just the enviroment we live in and mind broken liberals see that as a reasonable position to have these days. Lemmyworld is also somehow as or even more insufferable than reddit in this regard. One just assumes that in the fringes there would be less mainstream and more nuance and willigness to speak up.
