2024 is the Year of Linux on the Desktop, at least for my boyfriend. He’s running Windows 7 right now, so I’ll be switching him to Ubuntu in a few days. Ubuntu was chosen because Proton is officially supported in Ubuntu.
I’ve used Ubuntu for 10 years. I love it for stability, ease, and simplicity If i need to do anything there are plenty of guides. I learned how to do a lot of cool stuff on linux but I don’t really need or want to do any of it.
Mostly I just pirate movies, use a vpn, torrent, listen to music, write. My career doesn’t require much computer stuff. Why should I try something different?
I’m not working with a huge amount of interest in or energy for complicated customization. I just wanna turn it on and have it work.
Think about how you have treated both strangers and people you know to answer this question accurately. e.g.: If you say you like people but constantly avoid talking or doing any activity with other people do you actually like people?
People are awesome and exhausting at the same time. Socializing is like exercising. If I don’t do it I feel horrible. If I do it too much without a break I feel horrible. If I do it just enough, then stop doing it and rest, it’s nice. Moderation.
There are graduating seniors in high-school this year. That group of unregistered voters needs to be coaxed to register, and vote. They need easy, step by step directions. They need to understand their new power of citizenship. They can be tried as adults. They should know who the sheriff is. They should know its an elected position. They need to learn this shit, and most likely it’s not gonna happen in school. Please ticktock or whatever. Make it viral.
Washington Post: Donald Trump can be held civilly liable for the actions of the mob that attacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, an appeals court ruled Friday in a long-awaited decision that could clear the way for lawsuits seeking financial damages from the former president.
So fucking weird. He also wrote a banger called “arrest the president” about Trump. A few years into the 1st Trump reign. Is he still just a spinless, rudderless, money vacuum?
While I agree, and I am a part of my teachers union, I also don’t see any evidence that teachers will suddenly become respected and well paid. Like, Suddenly we all realized that we should feel grateful that we can read. Nope.
My NGO, WFH friend thinks she is working hard. The reality is, in our current system, the harder one works the less one is going to make. For her she has a stable position in the NGO.
Their goal is to help save fisheries and wild fish stock. In reality she doesn’t even know what salmon looks like unless it’s on a bagel.
You think these billionaires are just a billion times more hard working? They are just manipulative, insular, myopic, and selfish. Those are the key ingredients to success in our system. Surprise surprise, they are the opposite characteristics that a good teacher requires.
There is a teacher shortage right now. The supposed pressure to improve things comes from where again? Who is going to be on a megaphone, chanting about poorly educated youth? Who gives a shit about illiterate, poor, people, except the manipulative assholes who get rich taking advantage of them?
Personally I believe the state wants poorly educated citizens They spend lots of money on stupid shit. They take pride in working several low paying jobs, poor Healthcare, poor infrastructure. Basically, poor, uneducated people are perfect slaves. Why do you think it was illegal to teach slaves to read?
We’re already forced to burn oil to power air conditioners so our elders don’t die in heatwave. Just imagine the inside of a giant Vegas casino without electricity.
You said we will still use oil because it’s profitable. I said that we can’t stop using oil, because our earth is too hot, because we are too much burning oil. How am I off topic?
My point is, it’s not economically viable for an elderly Texan to spend 500 bucks on inflated energy prices during a heatwave, but it’s not like there is a choice. We’re gonna burn it all up because we don’t know how to stop.
