I'm nearing the end of day two (of three) of ER&L, and I'm already tired. So much cognitive load to balance multiple social media feeds, Slack, what's going on in our session chats, the sessions themselves, etc. Uffda.

Back at my last job, a colleague and I would take a "turn about the quad" once a day (just a 10-minute walk), just to get out and channel our inner Jane Austen. It was a great way to drop my "work" persona and just rest while still in the workplace.

As someone at a library that takes the Accessibility Conformance Reports (i.e., filled out VPAT) seriously, I cannot stress the importance of cross-org discourse. Our campus Equity Compliance & Education Manager and I have presented on our own process/policy several times in the past year or so (most recently at the PacRim Int'l Conference on Disability & Diversity, last week). I haven't used Twitter in ages, but I have to as a volunteer for the conference I'm at. How has it become so unusable?! Like, ads every other post? Ugh.

This experience is not making me feel like I made a bad decision to leave (and that's without having to deal with the online jerks there, too).

My coffee mug from this morning (and most mornings) is from Bread & Badger. It was a birthday present from my spouse, @BigFrickinSwede , this past year, and I absolutely love it.

All of our pint glasses are from Bread & Badger, too, starting over a decade ago when they still hand-carved all of their designs!

Monday morning's craft is a space shuttle glider with special stickers of the conference imagery to go on it when completed.

I don't know why, but I think @jam would appreciate this year's theme. (We're going searching for aliems.)

I'm very interested in the OER negotiations modules that ONEAL will start releasing later this month https://oneal-project.org/

It'll be focused on library (licensing) negotiations, but should also be more widely applicable.

I love how well this conference (ER&L) helps virtual attendees feel like part of the group. I've already mentioned the swag that they mail to us, but they also live stream sessions. I attended one just last week that didn't do much live stream, and I was so disappointed in it.

ER&L is one of the dual conferences (online and in-person) that I point to that shows How Its Done. They treat their virtual attendees so well and make sure that we feel included in the entire conference, including the swag.

Loving this talk by Kasia Chmielinski about AI. They talk about their own responsibility as a producer of AI, but are also looking at our opportunities as users of AI in libraries. This isn't a "rah rah" discussion, but provides caveats about use and care of what you enter.

It had been refusing to come out of RF mute and fully power up until..... she sniffed it.

It responded with a soft click, the power supply lights turned green, and off it went.
