MattyXarope,

Post the logs please

Also copy what the error message says. It’s difficult to read.

MattyXarope,

These but choose inherit from the environment. Try to only post the errors in the log (usually at the end) because it will be long.

Also the only time I’ve ever seen that error is when a person’s drivers are not up to date or they don’t have the latest vkd3d / Wine installed.

You should also have the correct dependencies - VC 2019 Redist

MattyXarope,

Look at all of the lines with

:err:

You’re not updated somewhere, I bet. You need to make sure it’s all updated - kernel, drivers, manually make sure vkd3d is newest.

Also try changing Wine versions to an older build.

MattyXarope,

Need logs again

MattyXarope,

Which version of Wine are you running?

MattyXarope, (edited )

Have you experimented with another launcher like Bottles or even Steam?

You could eliminate the possibility that it is a Lutris settings problem that way.

How the heck do I run Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition?

I’ve downloaded the game from cs, and I’ve tried my best to make it run. If I make a win32 prefix, the game doesn’t run and the log says bad file descriptor. If I make a win64 prefix, the game silently crashes, nothing in the logs whatsoever. I’ve installed directx 9, dinput8, wmp9, I’ve run the game with dinput8...

MattyXarope,

Need more info about your system

MattyXarope,

How are you running it?

MattyXarope,

In the runner debug options for the game ( here) choose “Inherit from the environment” and upload the log to something like pastebin.

MattyXarope,

After the Wii U fiasco I’d be shocked if they called it anything other than Switch 2.

MattyXarope,

Been using this mod. It’s scaled down textures and a few ini tweaks - appears to be with draw distance and lod. Seems to work well enough until patches come out.

MattyXarope,

They had absolutely 1 thing to do:

Remake Saints Row 2.

And they continued to ignore what everyone wanted.

MattyXarope,

I’m just concerned about Grandma Shirley being able to play this. It won’t be the same without her commentary :(

MattyXarope,

Imagine trying to punch a man with magical underwear on - those punches are not going to land, George

MattyXarope,

Does the pro exist? I’ve seen so much conflicting information.

MattyXarope, (edited )

im not able to get them working using wine

That’s it? No logs, not system specs, no nothin? We need these things at a bare minimum in order to help.

Constant slowdown in Baldur's Gate 3

I downloaded the GOG version (from a secure site) and it runs fine, my PC can handle it and it runs perfectly on medium at a stable 60fps, but sometimes when I play the game it seems “slow”, I can’t really describe it but it’s like the game runs fine at first and then drops below 20fps and when I restart the game it runs...

MattyXarope,

I swear, it seems like getting a decent tomato is impossible nowadays. They’re all refridgerated and horrible, completely bland.

MattyXarope,

Yeah, honestly cherry tomatoes are the only ones that I find have any kind of discernable flavor nowadays.

MattyXarope,

It looks sick. I actually have no problem that it’s thicker if that means that the battery life is longer (although weight is a concern over thickness, of course). Lenovo hardware is hit and miss though (and I say this having used a Legion laptop for the past few years).

Also, Steam Deck will still remain king until the other companies can make a good track record of consistent software improvements which are needed on a device like this. I see all of these other clones - the Ally, the 50000 Aya devices - and I still am not tempted until I know that they will be supported long term. I really think that this support sets the tone for these devices - is this market going to be a ‘it’s a year old and already outdated so I’ll just buy a new one’ kind of thing? Or will it be ‘this is good for a quite a few years and I’m happy with my purchase and not immediately getting fomo’? I really hope it’s the latter.

Another thing is that, and maybe I’m misremembering, but didn’t Nintendo patent some part of the detachable controller design that scared companies from doing anything similar for a long time? I could have sworn that was happening for quite a while…

MattyXarope,

I am someone who mods every console that I have. I even mod lemmy.world/c/linuxcracksupport here. But fiddling with the Deck can be very tedious and tiring. It’s like modding a game - you’ll spend hours getting it right, only for your will to play the game be gone.

I’ve even taken to not doing beta updates anymore on the Deck because the uncertainy that they cause just gets into my playtime. It somewhat ruins the concept of the Deck, which is ‘pick up for a few minutes and play’ in my mind.
