just from having a think about it, your basically going DC (from the battery) to AC from the inverter back to DC via some inverter incorporated into the Festoon lights right? Do you already have the lights?, Or are there versions of the light that use DC?
I can’t be of any help but those Ryobi ones look quite interesting. Didn’t know they existed. Though at 150W, you’d be constantly changing out batteries!
Does your lighting plus straight an AC wall outlet?
Interesting, I wonder if there’s a way to know whether a seller does under that per year, or maybe if customs flags that they are doing over the limit, they send a request to the vendor, hence if they don’t seem to be collecting gst as time of sale, one could assume they are under?
I’ve been looking online but couldn’t find a definitive answer.
It seems that if I purchase something overseas and have it shipped here, if its total value (incl. shipping) is under $1000 NZD, that Customs won’t collect GST at the border, and rather, this is supposed to be collected by the Vendor.
But what happens if your vendor doesn’t collect GST at the time of sale, and your goods are under $1000? Will it then be collected at the border by Customs?, or by your shipper (e.g., DHL)?
Doesn’t seem to be an issue for this guy. They installed a cat door on the little pool storage house thingy they have in the yard, so that he can get in and out of that as he pleases (it’s sort of like his own little house 😄), and he doesn’t seem to have a problem with it.
Also keeping them in overnight means way less catfights/vet bills.
Definitely agree with this one, though unfortunately this fella really does needs to take his (what we assume is his toilet break) little wander at 4am. The whole thing with him not wanting to use a toilet indoors is another thing all together… Maybe it has something to do with the fact he was basically a street cat for a bit.
Has there been any discussions/thoughts around making these Daily Korero threads less frequent?, i.e., weekly, every other day etc.
There’s obviously not a ton of us in here, and some days (like today), there’s basically nothing here. Obviously there’s nothing stopping anyone replying to a thread from yesterdays Korero, but maybe it leads to a lack of visibility? i don’t know… Just spitting out some ideas :)
On March 18, 2022, scientists at the Concordia research station in the east Antarctic recorded the largest spike in temperature ever recorded with the region experiencing a rise of 38.5C above its seasonal average....
I go through spurts of reading, and I had been putting off ebooks because I like to own the physical books and have them fill up a shelf etc.
I recently got a Kobo and it’s been amazing. Definitely been reading more, and as others have mentioned, it’s so great when travelling. I’ve got a little camera sling bag that I carry when travelling, and it just manages to fit in there so I can have a quick read when I’m waiting for something/got some down time etc.
WOW! Thank you for all that knowledge :) The relationships between the different instances, and how they work together suddenly makes sense - seems pretty simple when you break it down like that lol.
Do you think there could ever be a “perfect” solution to this problem? Or due to how this whole Federation thing works with all these different instances, is this just a limitation that can only get better to a point?
I’ve been on Lemmy everyday, but my apps setting changed so that my landing page was the “Home” pqge and not my “Local” as it was before. Has really decreased how often I come here. Better update it so that it’s changed back.
We’re going on a trip with the family soon (roadtrip around NZ), and will be driving a rental from Budget.
However, I am flying down a couple of days after my partner and her family, but I will be driving once I am down there. I have just read the Budget website, and it mentions that all additional drivers must be present at the time of picking up the vehicle.
I was wondering if anyones had experience of either:
Being added as an additional driver when not present (showing them a copy of your drivers license at time of pickup) or,
Oh man I remember when I first tried podcasts because I would get sleepy driving back from work. Used to listen to Joe Rogan about 6 or so years ago, and then he started having certain guests come on…
I find “Stuff You Should Know” to be quite a good one for some interesting facts :)
In recent NZ political history (say ~20 years), has NZ politics become noticeably more combative?
I see a lot of articles and things around how American style politics has been making its way here, but I haven’t really followed politics here with any real intent (partly due to age, partly due to cbf-ness).
Seems all the arguments National make in the last few years is just going look what the other guys are doing, that’s terrible, we’ll be doing the opposite of that.
I feel like it could be a bit of an opportunity for Countdown?
I know a lot of people are quite vocal about how expensive Countdown is, maybe just go all in on the more “eco” front to shift/revamp their image?
Try and shift their customers behaviors?, or am I being naive and do you think good portion of their customers leave because they don’t get their veges packed like how they are used to.
Man I really hate my XPS13. Had it for a few years now, and Sleep & Hibernation are always so hit and miss. THey will wake themselves up and then crash more often than not.
Yeah, really enjoying the community type vibe going on around here. Feels more like you’re having a conversation with a group of people. Excited to see how it all goes
