Thinking of building a modest home gym with a squat rack.
Though it needs to go on carpet, but I’m not so keen on the idea of having plywood directly on carpet (especially in the rumpus), with possible issues with moisture and mold etc.
Yeah, I’ve had a pretty toxic manager before that used to constantly be onto you about what you were doing, what you had done etc, and its a really nice change to work with someone that trusts you to do what you do.
Took a bit of getting used to it - not hearing from your manager all day, and them being entirely fine with it.
I understand that there must be a whole lot of hoops to jump through etc, but how is it not possible to shut something down for such blatant wrongdoings?
I currently use two laptops (work and personal), and I was previously using an HP G5 Dock to switch between the two via USB-C.
The Docks recently died, and was looking to see if there might be a more elegant solution.
I was wanting to leave both laptops plugged in (via USB-C), and switch between the two with something like a KVM Switch? I was wondering if anyone’s done something like this, or know of a solution?
edit: additionally with Power over USB-C capabilities as well
We’re getting some heatpumps installed later this week, and planned to have a couple of the outdoor units mounted to the walls due to lack of space.
I suddenly came to the thought of “would they be too loud from inside the house with their humming”, and was wondering if anyones had any experience?
We are getting the Mitsubishi AP series, and the house is 200mm Masonry block on the downstairs, and Brick Veneer on the upstairs (Not too sure which of the two they will be mounted to).
The place we recently moved into has a bit of a garden bed area, but we think (looking at sun charts etc), that it will only be getting good sun for 4~6 months a year. Hopefully we can get something done with that time period as we’re pretty keen to doing some gardening :)
Will need to do a few trips soon to buy some compost etc.
It’s weird. We had got all the comms saying that the consent process was underway, and then got comms saying it was all finalized and good to go, and then their contractors come around and say that.
Currently on 4G Wireless Broadband as an interim, but it’s a bit of a struggle haha
Man, it’s been a pretty hectic week with moving and all that. A few parts of the body that are aching a bit 😂
Still haven’t got Fibre internet (even though we started the process about 6 Weeks ago. The Chorus Techs came on site to do their initial scoping, and said they don’t do Shared Driveways (even though we outlined everything in the application) 🤷♂️. Been a whole lot of no communication since then.
I read a post yesterday (on AskLemmy I think it was?), where someone was asking if they thought Lemmy had gotten a bit more quiet over the last few weeks, and someone answered that this would probably be the case where we see certain events drive a whole bunch of new users onto Lemmy, then slowly decrease until the next big event and so on, until Lemmy reaches a certain critical mass.
I wonder what the next big event would be that sees a lot of new users come here.
Yeah. Seems there’s a lot of anger / doom-and-gloom types on a lot of the NZ based subreddits. As you said, I find it to be a nice change of pace here.
I do wonder how we would change out plastic packaging for a lot of foods etc. with paper based products with current technology. We’ve become so dependent on things being sealed. I guess it would have multiple levels to it, including technology and behaviours.
When you think about it, it seems like quite a big deal to pull out of something like that 3 years before its supposed to go ahead, especially when you consider something like Olympics has its hosts selected like 10 years prior or something like that.
Going in for the final pre-settlement inspection today. Though as the Chattels were listed in an “As Is” Condition (which we knew prior to signing), I guess there’s not much to check other than to see if anything catastrophic has happened

That’s me when I have 30 minutes in between meetings. Have some water, go to the bathroom, answer a couple of messages/emails and your left with such an iffy amount of time to actually get stuck into work.
Im very new to 3d printing and this is my first time using anything other than pla. So far all of my prints are lifting off the bed at the corners. They start off looking beautiful. No stringing, great adhesion, etc. But after a few layers, they start to come off. Especially on larger prints....
I’ve been using textured PEI sheets on the bed, and apart from where I had completely wrong first layers or parts with very little bed contact, adhesion has been great.
A few years ago I had contacted the Dell Support Team about an issue I was having with my order, and they called me back and had asked me to give them my card details so that they could cancel and make the payment again. I wasn’t comfortable with that so asked if we could do it another way. I was a bit nervous?, about asking but they didn’t think it was weird at all and were very accommodating.
Man, I’m really seeing an increase in the number of Scam Texts I get these days.
A few weeks ago I had a message about a parcel from NZ Post that had some issue with it - Exactly when I was eagerly expecting a parcel. Almost fell for that one.

In the photo on RNZ there are two overflowing tanks with a bank behind them. You can spot the tanks on Google Maps, next to the middle shed:
