Hey.

I’m Dan. A 36 year old father of two who doesn’t have nearly as much time as he needs to do half the things he wishes he had the time to do.

I read both of Stuart Turtons mystery novels last year and couldn’t recommend them enough.

The Devil and the Dark Water and The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle

I’m not sure why but I find this deeply icky.

*got it

It’s the idea that Police officers are going to be standing around in Waitrose whilst regular people are unable to get more than a crime number off the police if someone breaks into their home and steals their dead Nan’s jewelry collection.

Just be thankful she hadn’t made you watch Roblox content.

I’ll throw my hat into the ring and say it’s most likely the GameCube.

That’s not to say I think it has the largest amount of my favourite games, but at that stage in my life (I was 13 when it was released) it was definitely pretty formative. Plus most of my other friends had a PS2 or an Xbox, so I felt a little… different and daresay edgy for opting for the little purple box with a handle on the back.

To this day I still think that thing was a joyful little box of fun. Tiny memory cards. Tiny discs. The Wavebird. Luigi’s Mansion. Metroid Prime. That intro video. I don’t think video games got any better than they did for me when I was loading them up on my GameCube.

I wish Nintendo would be more open to trying new things with regards to software development like they were on the GameCube.

We had an Xbox and it had some seriously cool features and games. Me and my brother played Halo together using one of the Duke controllers, which at the time felt obscenely large but now kinda sounds awesome.

Project Gotham Racing was probably my favourite game on that system. That and Forza, with a custom ripped soundtrack courtesy of the consoles cd ripping technology.
