I think that the vast majorly of us are all for this. I can’t wait to hear how they’re going to build the 3,500 km of wall that are under water. I assume they will just build the wall on the waterfront on their side of the Great Lakes?...
A very long time ago I contracted for a company that had written their own in house pick and pack sorting system at a central warehouse. It ran on a large HP 9000 system and drove X terminals with early touch screens. Guys would take boxes in from trucks, enter scan codes into the terminals, the boxes would get sent along chutes, and then go to various places in the warehouse to be resorted and repacked for shipment out later.
Anyway, a team of five or so wrote and supported this thing and it worked. But a new MIS manager came in and he decided to transition the server to Itanium running Windows with PC clients because it would be “more standard”. He bought an off the shelf system from some company claiming to be “ISO 9000 Compliant” and proceeded to fire his entire dev staff.
How long before they came back as consultants at triple the price to get the old system back up and running? A month. And that idiot still tried to keep the transition going. Wound up being a real gravy train for those old devs. Lol
So, I guess my point is you don’t need AI for an incompetent manager to b0rk a working process. But I guess AI does automate failure a good deal faster.
There’s a lemmy.ml post on a Raleigh News Observer article about RedHat and how their new partner program stipulations ‘divide the open source community’. Inside that article are arguments favoring RedHat. These arguments always miss the point, which is that RedHat, and IBM by extension as the parent company, always...
This violates the GPL They must release source for all derivative projects and cannot include additional licenses which prevent recipients from releasing their source. Which is what the partner program does.
Redhat must be sued for this or it will set a precedent.
No. Redhat only releases source to partners, those who pay them. That’s fine. But then they stipulate that if a partner redistributes source, the partner loses support and is ejected from the partner program. That’s NOT fine. That directly violates the GPL.
Cut the bullshit. Redhat is violating the copyright of every other contributor by doing this. The GPL license is clear.
I’ve gone through endless hassles with license compliance and audits in my day. IBM has a team of lawyers who exist just to enforce their copyrights. They will pursue violation claims to the max.
Redhat, an IBM subsidiary, is engaged in a massive copyright violation here. THEY MUST BE SUED.
If Redhat wants to play the game you’re proposing, yank Redhat Linux and redeploy their system with BSD. Where that license stipulates it would be legal.
A Confederacy of Dunces, Toole. Funny. Sad. Dark. Brilliant.
After that, Madame Bouvary, Floubert. Which has remarkable similarities to Confederacy in its use of unreliable narrative through a protagonist utterly detached from external reality.
Both Ignatius and Emma seek recognition in worlds they do not understand.
Though I found myself fascinated, unable to stop watching like gawking at a bloody car accident, The Human Centipede just left me sick to my stomach. Not that it was bad in production values, like a Manos Hands of Fate fiasco, it just remains unwatchable a second time as Horror. And you can’t say that about The Evil Dead II or or even a splatter fest like Ichi the Killer. Both of which I love.
The House just removed a speaker with seniority and elected a two term religious zealot in his place. One who refuses to support the main foreign policy of leaders in both parties. The Senate has a member who has kept all military nominations on hold because the opposing party nominated them. And that party in both legislative chambers refuses to fund government.
I’m all for free political speech. But fuck your definition. Spewing hate and vitriol like it’s some speech virtue. We all left Reddit because it leads to horrors in the name of free speech. All while claiming the opposite is Virtue Signaling. This behavior is a blight on reason and kindness.
You want to disagree on a point? Be my guest. You want to use slurs and call those who disagree with you “shitlibs”? Then piss off back to Reddit, where hate is the embodiment of the virtueless you seek.
The Fediverse isn’t the kind of “free speech zone” you think it is. And never was. It was created exactly to oppose that.
I do this for a living. Most people shooting family vids or youtube vlogs/video essays would find Kdenlive perfectly well suited to their needs. It does simple transforms, titling, adjustments, etc. And it looks like a normal NLE. When you hit a wall with it, the move to a commercial program will be easy.
To me, the big mistake both make is in the presumption the UI and utilities shipped with those platforms are why people use it. But no. Nobody uses MacOS because of its nifty calculator or the Finder. It’s the overall toolkit integration with apps. Not even look and feel. But consistency in use.
I don’t presume to know why others choose to use anything. But MacOS is highly consistent across apps. Dialog boxes, text input forms, file browsing, hot keys, all the same across applications.
I will no longer be able to assist with development nor debugging actual issues with the software… Quite juvenile behavior from the devs. It stemmed from this issue where the devs continuously argued in public by opening and closing an issue. Anyway, thought I would keep y’all apprised of the situation, since these are the...
