Introducing Shiny for Python templates! 🐍

We're thrilled to offer opinionated boilerplate Shiny Templates code that allows you to hit the ground running, whether you need a quick, simple app or a quick, complicated one.

Use Polars? Find options for displaying tables limiting? Check out great_tables latest update

Right now the Polars ecosystem has few good options for styling tables for presentation. Enter great_tables.

To continue 1/3:
Polars is popular in part because of its intuitive & powerful context and expressions that help make simple data manipulation tasks easy (not to mention the Arrow driven performance). These are important to folks who want to think more about their analytics and less about code optimization. But right now, when it's time to convert polars data into a table to share, people often turn to pandas and use the built-in DataFrame styler.

@Posit@fosstodon.org avatar

Continued 2/3

This is a sad state of affairs. One major limitation with this state of things; you can’t use polars expressions. And this friction doesn't help with performance.

Check out great_tables latest update!

"Polars expressions make styling tables very straightforward." The same Polars code that you would use to select or filter combines with Great Tables to highlight, circle, or bolden text.

And don't take my word for it, here's Marco Gorelli;
"As it turns out, polars expressions make styling tables very straightforward". Nice to see a project that gets it - well done Posit PBC! (https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7156600576430997504/)

Does anybody know where to report possible p3m / ppm / rspm issues to @Posit ?

Today's update apparently is all source and not binary (for the platforms I look at: Ubuntu 22.04 + 20.04, R 4.3)

tidymodels: Better warnings, clearer errors, and exciting new features coming soon!

The tidymodels framework is a collection of packages for modeling and machine learning using principles. This quarterly digest summarizes what’s new in the tidymodels ecosystem.

Check out the tidymodels Q4 2023 digest to learn more.

⬡ Enhanced warnings: {recipes} sees an overhaul of error and warning messages. Watch out for sneaky Inf and -Inf values lurking in your data. Tidymodels now warns you about potential normalization issues, helping you avoid misleading results.
⬡ Improved error messages: We are starting the project of providing more information signaling when things don’t go well.
