Several subreddits had begun allowing porn and not safe for work content to protest Reddit. In response, the platform has removed entire moderator teams from the affected subreddits.
Dunno if am on the wrong instance or what ever (freemedia or something) but there's very little content to scroll through. Do I need to ditch this and start again or is this pretty much standard?

I found out about it because of a hacker news comment discussing the Reddit drama. I'm pretty upset that I didn't discover it on Reddit. I assume any mention of Lemmy was marked as spam or was I just not browsing the right communities?
I saw it on hacker news and wanted to check it out as I intended to delete my Reddit account but wanted a new home where I could get my info fix. I came, I saw, I deleted my Reddit account and here I am :)
Aye, definitely, I don't think that the majority of people understand how very urgent the Climate crisis is.I tried to talk to my family/parents about it, and they just think it is exaggerated and that science will fix it. My father said that it is all just the media trying to scare people, and that they fixed the ozone hole and acid rain issues in the past. Sadly, there is no getting through to them. As long as it doesn't affect them directly they will not accept the urgency of it and even if it does, they will blame something else.

This is such an appalling situation. I get why the sanctions against North Korea are in place, but surely they can be weakened, at least in regard to food and medical supplies. The ordinary people there are just trying to survive, raise their children and get by, just like everyone else. They are not the enemy, they are not in charge of the nukes. I don’t think that most people in the west really understand how little autonomy the ordinary North Korean has.
Also, and I am aware it is controversial and illegal under international law…but can we not just assassinate Kim? Western governments seem to be able to topple governments when there is oil involved all the time.
What do you think would work? I think at least some of the food would go to ordinary people, even if a lot of it would be creamed of by those in power. China and Russia used to supply them with it years ago.I don’t know what the solution is, but letting millions starve to death surely is not the right way either.
I didn’t know that about China, thank you for educating me. I knew China wants Taiwan back, but was not aware about their interest in North Korea beyond it being a neighbour. It seems obvious to me now you said it. Do you have any recommendations about further reading about the subject?
