From what I've gathered, the admins intend to keep the community list limited so that there is more participation within the current ones. You can always request a new one; however, from this post https://beehaw.org/post/507164 they mention new communities won't likely be created until July 1st.
If the performance weakness continues for a week or two, the agency would start recommending decreasing spend with Reddit or directing it to other platforms....
I cancelled my Reddit premium today. I was hesitant because I was in the $30/yr and didn’t want to get rid of that pricing since it’s $50 now. But I’m liking the fediverse and the quirks that comes with it. Will cancelling make an impact? Probably not. But I’d rather not support them if they’re not going to give me a choice on which app I use.
It gave you 700 tokens a month. So you could give out awards to posts. It also removed ads. But I used Apollo and old.reddit(don’t know if ads are placed here) so it didn’t exactly benefit me much.
many people who have joined have related their extended stints on communities Reddit, Dig, Slashdot, or even older places like Usenet, and i'm super interested in what your best memories and favorite experiences on places like that have been in your time using them
I don’t think I’ll ever be so invested in a forum that I could post over 200 posts per day
This resonates with me. Whenever I’m posting I ask myself, “is this contributing to the discussion?” If the answer is no, I won’t post anything. The old forums that had a comment count under a username made me want to increase that so I posted on every post. I feel this lead to a lot of unnecessary and dull engagement.
hey folks, here's another meta-post. this one isn't specifically in response to the massive surge of users, but the surge is fortuitously timed because i've been intending to give a good idea of what our financial stability is like. as a reminder, we're 100%-user funded. everything you donate to us specifically goes to the...

Apollo app at work and old.reddit with RES at home. My Reddit account is 10 years old. I saw the changes with the algorithm where news didn't make it to the front page of r/all unless sit was huge. I quit posting comments because by the time I'd make it to a post there would already be thousands. Not much community feel left so I think this API change was for the best.

I can fucking relax a little bit
Over the past 48 hours I have been glued to my screen trying to figure out how to make Beehaw more robust during this Reddit exodus....
what's your best internet community related memory, Beehaw?

Do you use reddit mostly through the app or web?
Because I only use web, on mobile and desktop. I can't live without adblock.
