This is the real answer. Previously, most exodus events from Reddit were because shitty people wanted to post shitty things and got told to leave.
As OP themselves said, a decade ago they tried to go to Voat because it was going to allow hateful comments while Reddit was banning those communities. A website full of people who all want to make hateful comments turned out to be a hateful place to be. Who would have thought?
This time is hopefully different because Reddit isn’t specifically telling shitty people to leave. Instead, it’s basically forcing a ton of its power users to leave. People who want to have good discussions and not just be fed ads constantly. Places like Beehaw and Tildes and some others are forming positive communities. And I’m hopeful to see them grow.
What games would you guys recommend for a guy near 50, who doesn't have a gaming pc (my laptop is an i7, 16gb RAM and using onboard graphics) which tend to have an older community? I used to play RPG's and my least favorite games are those first person war games....
Slay the Spire!! It's all single player but it's a ton of fun. It's a single player deck building card battle game. I've got nearly 2000 hours in it. Very light weight to run, and that computer can definitely run it.
Seems like foldable phones are taking over (e.g. Motorola Razr making waves) and only Apple is missing an entry in this form factor now. Almost everyone who can afford one swears by it with the exception of weak build quality....
I've got a Galaxy Z Fold 4 and I don't think I can realistically see myself going back to a non-foldable form factor unless they just give up and stop making them. I have very few complaints with this phone. I have a small wish list of things that I'd love to see, but I'm super happy with how it is right now.
My top wish would be to have an integrated S-Pen slot in the phone like the S23 Ultra has. Then making the phone actually a little bigger, maybe getting to an 6.5" outer screen and 8" or so inner screen. Closing totally flat would be good, but I actually don't mind the small gap. I don't even notice it with my case on. I thought I would hate the crease but it's actually not even something I think about at all. Having it open 100% perfectly flat would be amazing but the crease genuinely doesn't bother me.
Love my Index. I'm really waiting for Valve to put out whatever their next headset is. Hoping that it has eye tracking with foveated rendering. I honestly don't mind it being tethered to my PC.
If you haven't tried out Vertigo 2 yet, definitely look into it. It's a fantastic VR shooter with an alright story that came out a few months ago. Just all around a really good game.
My next car will probably be an EV, but only because I have a 2019 Civic, and I plan to drive it for at least another decade from now. Hoping gas stations start to add charging stations over the next decade and this problem starts to go away.
If you've got any favorite runs, list them out down below. At time of posting, SpikeVegeta is running a Majora's Mask randomizer and it's had a lot of great energy in the crowd so far.
Absolutely insane that they're tanking their 3rd party apps like this. Their 1st party apps is so bad. Big shout out to the (mods? Admin? Owners?) Of beehaw for being being on their game for accepting new users like me quickly today.
Why do most reddit alternatives end up becoming shit shows?

Could you recommend me a game?

Do you play VR?
Wondering whether there is a VR community here. What systems? What games?...

Do you use reddit mostly through the app or web?
Because I only use web, on mobile and desktop. I can't live without adblock.
"Had a call with Reddit to discuss pricing. Bad news for third-party apps, their announced pricing is close to Twitter's pricing, and Apollo would have to pay Reddit $20 million per year [...]" (libreddit.nl)
...to keep running as is....
