Low quality SMS. There are lots of things Apple could do to improve the experience of texting people without iMessage, lots of things built into the SMS standard that they do t implement.
Edit: wow thought this was commonly known. Basically Apple hasn’t adopted industry standard SMS improvements. There’s a whole campaign to try to get them to. Here’s an article explaining www.android.com/get-the-message/
This is just false, it’s sent over carrier networks and the carriers decide whose infrastructure to use. Google is one of several options. RCS is an open standard and it is the industry standard for SMS. It’s literally why every other non iphone can send high quality pictures to each other. Apple not adopting it is anti competitive.
I have open sourced software and contributed to open source software. Bet you haven’t. Sure is nice for you to get the benefits of open source with Voyager though isn’t it?
I didn’t say he was obligated to open source it. He gains nothing by keeping it closed. If he had open sourced it I could still use it because I have a Reddit API key. If he open sourced it, it could be converted to work with Lemmy. But he effectively burned it down.
He doesn’t owe it to me to open source it but I can still think it was a shitty selfish decision.
Wow, pretty clear how he feels about it. But also he made plenty of money of Apollo and then just shut it down and refused to open source it. So I don’t feel particularly inclined to change my behavior here.

It costs him nothing and makes thousands of people happy. It contributes to the open source landscape which he built on heavily. Search his Reddit profile for open source mentions and see for yourself.
I feel like there was a missed opportunity to use some of the spare computing power on the desk to add some helpful navigational autonomy. Like using a backward facing web camera for lane assist, obstacle avoidance, route following, etc. Could leverage something open source like Autoware.org to get most of the way there....

Well I just came here from a thread where Googles economist accidentally revealed how much Google pays Apple (to be their default search engine in safari) while trying to dodge questions. That’s got to make the list.
Better efficiency but more importantly it heats almost instantly. Thing is like magic. No preheating for 5+ mins.
