I think most of us who moved here from Reddit are enjoying our time here on kbin.social. We've left a lot of the riff-raff behind us and made new friends with intelligent, thoughtful members of kbin, Lemmy, Mastodon, etc.....
tbh, Lemmy (or the software behind all this in general) first would need to implement a feature to migrate accounts to another instance. I think this will be incredibly important in the future. People are not ready or willing to abandon potential years of their account history for drama on an instance basically.
Well tbf, on most devices it’s usually disabled by default so this is one of the typical “well 99% of our users are unaffected so eat it or go away”. Always kinda dick-ish to do something like this.
The trailer fails to show much in its 2-minute run time. To clear up misconceptions though I'll say this, the game is big and open, it is unfair to compare it to Outer Wilds (I think Feargus is trying to keep expectations down just in case), which I think it is nothing alike. The studio that did the trailer did some compression...
Kinda sounds like it will be like The Outer Worlds...which I personally liked but I know for many people it was too shallow. Like Obsidian trying to make games like Bethesda but they're so much smaller in scope that they become perhaps a bit too shallow. I'll be interested to learn more about this game. I would kinda hope it will not just be a "AA-sized" Skyrim but I would personally probably still enjoy it like that.
I think technically you have to edit your post first and then delete it. Editing actually overwrites your old post while deleting it doesn't actually delete it from the database. I'm sure reddit could still get them from backups but I would assume that's much more work.
The salt in the comments of the announcement are glorious though. Yeah, poor pirates getting robbed of their sub. Pirates never have to go to various different websites to get what they want, yep.
Idk, for me it seems like they are really trying this time unlike with FO76. Like sure you can and should still absolutely be cautious, it might release in a bad state for lots of people but IMO we should just hope it does not.
IMO in terms of the actual content of the game it looks like what you would expect from a mainline BGS RPG. A giant version of Elder Scrolls/Fallout in space and if that's the case the game will be fantastic. The only thing that could ruin it is bugs that make the game unplayable. There will be bugs either way, Skyrim to this day has many but as long as they're not game breaking it should be fine.
I personally really hope the game is good and succeeds. Nobody in this industry makes RPGs like Bethesda and I really crave for a new one to sink in 100s of hours and then add mods to it to make it even better.
Down in the actual two comments where you are supposed to vote. The numbers you have they put into the post are probably a few hours old I would say. The actual votes are 64k to -15k right now
Problem is it will work lul. Just read some comments in some subs that are restricted like the Star Wars one. Kinda sad to see people bend over so easily only because they cannot post in their sub for a few days. Like, geez doesn't matter at all what % of people use 3rd party apps. A little bit of inconvenience doesn't kill anyone and it's good to stand up for stuff like this as well.
I'm sure they do but I have no doubt a ton of people also simply are in the typical "I don't care, it doesn't affect me directly but the subs going dark does so it's bad" mode as many are with lots of things these days sadly.
