Having to ask for permission to install something isn't normal. Calling the right way to do things "sideloading" keeps up the facade that using their App Store is normal and sane.

MNT Pocket Reform is super cool but I just plain don't need it.

@sun I prefer the larger Reform myself, but indeed true. I simply don't need it, but I will probably buy one of these once my trusty old Thinkpad X200 finally kicks the dust.

@sun Oh yeah it is quite unfair to say that this laptop only cost me 100 euro in total, that was just the initial purchasing price but obviously this laptop is the ship of thesis at this point and there's not that many original parts left.

I don't have a Reform myself but I convinced a friend of mine who needed a new laptop to buy one and they like it. They run Debian on it.

every other month I accidentally touch the ThinkPad screen and get reminded it's a touch screen for no reason - cannot be folded at all.

@lulu @kaia I think especially in cars this is terrible. In any car with physical buttons and knobs you can operate the climate control and radio and such without taking your eyes of the road.

But in modern cars the entire dashboard is just a giant iPad with no feedback except visual whatsoever.

However as a pedestrian you should probably be a lot more scared of a Cybertruck than a Mazda Miata.
