Would you be buried alive for 48hr for a million dollars?
You are buried in a coffin 6ft deep, with no light or cell phone. There is only a small tube connected to the coffin from outside that allows you to breathe (edit: you can breathe with no difficulty). After 48 hours, you are dug up and given 1 million dollars. Do you do it?...
As an adult, what seemingly childish things do you get excited about?
I love bridges. If I see a cool looking bridge, I want to cross it, especially if it goes somewhere that I’m not familiar with. Same with stairs outdoors. They feel like an adventure to me.
What show are you re-watching?
I’m re-watching The Magicians with my wife, since she’s never seen it. It’s been long enough since I watched it last that I don’t remember a lot of things that happened, so there’s a lot of “I forgot got that!” moments for me, which is fun.
How would you rate my stick? (lemmy.world)
1-10. How good of a stick is this? I quite like it....
The reason why we never meet time travelers is because our civilization ends before the technology can come to fruition.
Sort of similar to the Great Filter theory, but applied to time travel technology.
Many searches are useless without including reddit.com
As an example: I was doing a search for the best sesame substitute today. Everything that came up was things like, “11 Best Sesame Substitutes,” and I know for a fact that just about everything they suggested tastes nothing like sesame. Just another site trying to get hits. So I added reddit.com into my search parameters and...
Best Nova Launcher substitute?
I’m looking for something as close to Nova Launcher as possible.
What's an ingredient you love to use to amp up your cooking?
In the “Add a pinch of sugar” thread, many of you mentioned other things you like to add to boost the flavor in your dishes - MSG, tomato powder, soy sauce, etc. What’s an ingredient you find that you love to add to dishes to improve the flavor (or aroma, texture, or maybe even the way it looks)?...
Why are there so many expensive homes?
I see a lot of expensive houses being built in my area. A LOT. And the weird thing is that they’re being bought pretty quickly. Are these people just making more money than me? If so, what are they doing for a living? Or are they just living house poor? How exactly are they affording these places?...

What is an unexpected food combination you enjoy?
What foods do you like together that most people might not? Or what foods do you like together that people usually wouldn’t think of having together?...

Is there a name for knowing something is gone but not remembering what it was?
Sometimes I’ll notice that a building that I used to drive by all the time is gone (leveled to the ground). I know it’s gone, but I can’t remember what it looked like or what was in it. I just know it’s gone....
Fish and Chips in Isle of Skye (lemmy.world)
Easily one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Super crunchy, and such a generous portion, too.
Star Trek transporters
Transporters work by de-assembling something (e.g. you) and re-assembling it somewhere else. What if, when you’re dis-assembled, you die, and the re-assembled version of you is essentially a copy? Then every time someone steps onto a transporter, their final thought before death is that they’ll end up beamed somewhere else....

What are your favorite names?
What are some of your favorite out of the ordinary names from history, religion, or fiction? Could be the name of a person, animal, place, etc....
Add a pinch of sugar
I noticed that David Chang likes to add a bit of agave nectar to his fried rice. I never thought about adding something sweet to this, so I started adding a small amount of brown sugar (maybe 1/4 to 1/2 tsp) to my fried rice, and it really seems to make it tastier. It doesn’t read as “sweet” - it just gives it a tiny bit...
[Question] Are you cooking something other than turkey for Thanksgiving?
My wife and I rarely cook turkey for Thanksgiving. This year we’re coming Cornish hens. In previous years we’ve cooked duck, leg of lamb, and rib roast. It’s not that we don’t like turkey, but there are lots of other things that I think I’d prefer eating....
What do you do to reduce your use of single use plastics?
I really love the idea of reducing single use plastics in my life. What have you done to successfully reduce or eliminate it?...

How many people would you save?
Hypothetically speaking, if your death would save the life of one or more complete strangers that you know nothing about, how many people would need to be saved (if any) in order for you to give up your own life?...
She needs a name (lemmy.world)
She’s been hanging out by my garage for a few weeks now. I’ve fed her a few random bugs. I feel like I should name her. Any suggestions?
[QUESTION] What's the most interesting thing you've eaten?
When I travel, I try to taste the local cuisine and love to try things that I’ve never had before. Recently I tried haggis, which was outstanding. I’ve also had hakarl (fermented shark - not really my cup of tea, but glad I tried it) and balut (surprisingly tasty)....
