There is currently a potato in the bedroom that my 6yo daughter has named Dave. Until this moment Dave has been treated with lots of care and respect... but now I see that she's put a 99p sticker on Dave. I am so confused.

Drinking cider and black. This brings me back...

Remember snakebite! Remember when bars couldn't sell you snakebite anymore, so you'd have to buy all the constituent parts and then assemble it yourself at the bar. That really showed them.

I think that's where the idea for those DIY gin kits first started. If you really think about it.

@nic Yes, that was the goal back then. I was at uni in early 00s. I was just telling my bro about drink the bar dry. It all seems a bit crazy now. I am quite glad that the younger generations are likely far more sensible (on the whole)!

I first knew the Sonic Youth version (a great version), but then I looked up the Carpenters' version at some point and came to love that one most of all. ❤️

I'd like to say more about the "What no tomatoes?" talk, but I've only just woken up.

What I took away from it was: we all need to care about food sustainability; it should be a grass roots effort (don't wait for government to solve the problem!); the UK's reliance on food imports is rooted in an outdated system / view of the world; grow what you can, if you can (social inequalities acknowledged); source locally; be prepared to pay a fair price; eat seasonally.
