The U.S. has entered a “new normal” for COVID-19, with lower but consistent levels of infection, but experts fear that the new normal may include people skipping vaccines that are still needed for protection.

Kari Lake is back in court after several failed attempts to overturn Arizona's 2022 gubernatorial election, fighting for access to voter signatures she says will help prove her claims - but Maricopa County says those signatures aren’t public record.

@Sleestak That you returned a ballot is a public record already. The voter rolls and lists of who voted in each election are available to everyone. How you voted is not possible to determine, by anyone.

@lolonurse

The Constitution requires Senate approval of generals and flag officers. The law requires Senate approval of other military promotions.

For the love of Google! Family wrongly kept in dark about son's fate by Pima Sheriff's Luddite ways https://www.tucsonsentinel.com/opinion/report/081123_jail_death_failure_op/for-love-google-family-wrongly-kept-dark-sons-fate-by-pima-sheriffs-luddite-ways/
I'm not saying the Pima County Sheriff's Department didn't give a flip about a family frantically searching for their son. I'm saying they acted like they didn't give a flip, because that young man died in their custody, and they didn't bother to tell family it happened.

@Axomamma The MN warrants weren't for crimes serious enough to be included in NCIC. But if they Googled his name, those warrants would've been readily apparent.

Advocates launch initiative to secure abortion rights in Arizona https://www.tucsonsentinel.com/local/report/080823_abortion_initiative/advocates-launch-initiative-secure-abortion-rights-arizona/
A coalition of groups is seeking to ask voters to enshrine the right to an abortion in the Arizona Constitution. If approved by voters in the November 2024 election, the Arizona Abortion Access Act would allow women to terminate their pregnancy until the point at which a fetus could survive outside the womb.

@JetForMe The proposed law also includes a provision allowing all abortions to protect physical and mental health, in the judgment of the health care professional.

The EPA has finalized a 30-year plan to clean drinking water in a Tohono O'odham village polluted by decades of copper mining. Meanwhile, a different EPA department is negotiating to reopen the mine with the same company first responsible for the waste.

TucsonSentinel,

@tippenring "As a Superfund Alternative site, cleaning the water is overseen by the EPA, but the cost will be borne by Cyprus Tohono Corporation, the most recent company to own and operate the mine."
