TwinTusks,

Hey, you can do a lot worse than Philip J. Fry (like Zoidberg or Zapp).

TwinTusks,

Why people care about votes?? I don’t get it.

TwinTusks,

Great Wall of China? Come-on, no body can do that. And its not aliens, its GOD, who show favors protecting his favorite people, the Chinese.

TwinTusks,

You misunderstood. It asks for your real name and your identification number.

TwinTusks,

Recently I am partial to the name: Arthur

TwinTusks,

It is most comprehended, but for newbie it is too comprehensive. Its overwhelming, I tried to troubleshoot why I boot to black screen even the installation said its successful and there’s no error. I saw solutions that want me edit grub, edit xorg … and some other file that I never understand.

I understand the wiki is very good and very important, its just not newbie friendly.

TwinTusks,

Is actually great since it forces you to learn which saves you much more time in the long run.

It is great when you have time to learn, but when you are trying to troubleshoot while understand basically nothing of the wiki … it is not good.

What item have you been using on a daily basis for the longest amount of time?

Sometimes I will use something and realize I’ve owned it forever. It’s a nice change in our throwaway reality. I think my personal record is a bicycle multi-tool I got for one of my first bikes, ~25 years ago. Still have it, still use it. When it comes to electronic devices I have a Panasonic mini Hi-Fi from ~2005. Never...

TwinTusks,

I have my first generation Kindle Paperwhite that I still use daily, that is from 12. I don’t think that is the oldest item I have in my possession that I still uses, but it is one that I have right be side me at the moment.

TwinTusks,

very lucky, my KB’s battery died years ago and I never bothered to replace it.

I am eyeing a used Kindle Oasis for a while, but doesn’t really seems to have a reason to upgrade as I still have Paperwhite and Voyage.

P.S I believe the main reason for upgrading the KB is for the lights that all Kindles have now.

TwinTusks,

I read somewhere that theres cross-post option that people can use, but … don’t.

TwinTusks,

Asian logic, it is the parents fault for raising a sexual abuser.

How do y'all deal with programs not supported on Linux?

I’ve been seeing all these posts about Linux lately, and looking at them, I can honestly see the appeal. I’d love having so much autonomy over the OS I use, and customize it however I like, even having so many options to choose from when it comes to distros. The only thing holding me back, however, is incompatibility issues....

TwinTusks,

A question regarding bottles, do I have to install dependencies in the settings? My exe all installed without error but can’t open.

TwinTusks, (edited )

I am just testing things out, so I’m trying to install Kindle Previewer and Caesium image compressor. All install correctly, but crash upon execute.

This is the error for Kindle Previewer

TwinTusks,

NP, I guess I’ll just have to accept it (I only use it to convert ebooks to KFX format, it seems a bit overkill to have VM Windows just for that.)

Thank you for trying to help.

TwinTusks,

Most people in China do not think they eat cat meat.

Ouch

TwinTusks,

what kind of idiot parent lets an underage child on the internet unrestricted.

I’m 35, and I have been online pretty much unrestricted since I’m 11/12ish. But yes, I saw some shits.

TwinTusks,

I agree, the internet was still quite young in those days, I’m quite sure I wont be so open with internet access with my children (they are 7 and 2).

TwinTusks,

Oneplus used to be good too,

On that note, Xiaomi also used to be good. In fact, xiaomi’s initial popularity is for the ease of unlocking and rooting. Once it gain popularity, it started to lock down, much like the path OnePlus is on.

TwinTusks,

Damn, I have never seen any of these shapes before.
