WFH,

For the ones curious about what I was roasting :D

WFH,

The smell is heavenly and lingers for days ❤️

WFH,

You DO love coffee. You’re just not as far down the rabbit hole as I am :D

WFH,

My “baseline” nowadays is:

  • 180 for 3 minutes
  • 235 to 245 until the beginning of first crack
  • 220 until drop.

As a rule of thumb, I found that fruitier coffees benefit from a higher temp and therefore a quicker roast.

I drop anywhere from 30s to 1 min after the beginning of 1C.

WFH,

Truth is, I went straight for the Gene. The Behmor is also a popular option in entry-level coffee roasters.

Most places seem to recommend to start with a cheap popcorn machine or a heat gun and a dog bowl as a low-cost way to get you feet wet.

WFH,

Yeah I’ve heard you can’t go wrong with either option. I think I went for the Gene because it’s much easier to find in Europe.

WFH, (edited )

Yes, I’ve reduced the pressure further down to 7/8 bars after replacing the pump before giving it to my father who is much less obsessed about puck prep tha me :D

WFH,

I think (hope) the slowdowns are less upgrade related and more massive uptick in activity related. But maybe I’m wrong.

WFH,

The way I feel it, and maybe I’ve got this wrong is that federation works in an outbound fashion. Every instance sends to all its federation “hey, this thing just happened on my side”.

But if an instance goes down and it becomes “incompatible” like what happened to us for the past week or so, I feel that everything that happened in the meantime got irremediably lost.

I think there should be a contingency plan if one instance goes down. Something proactive along the way of “hey, I was down, I haven’t heard from you since xxxx seconds, could you send me an update?” Depending on the activity and the timespan the could trigger massive amounts of data being sent and has the potential to be abused so safeguards should be put in place, but maybe that could be a solution. Keep the real-time exchanges as the primary method but have a full sync once in a while.

WFH,

And r/gifs only gifs of our lord and savior tasting something truly disgusting and softly muttering “oh no”

The best Lemmy app so far is "Wefwef" hands down. If you loved Apollo you'd love this.

The app has an amazing experience so far, because it feels like I'm just using Apollo, heaps of baked in features that no other app has so far. It's a web app so installation is pretty forward. Much love to the Devs!...

WFH,

Wow nice! I just replaced the Apollo icon on my Home Screen with this.

Looks great and feels like Apollo!

WFH,

Absolutely love my Flair too, but I agree, it's one of the least practical ways of making espresso. Dialed in, it's capable of producing incredible shots tho.

WFH,

1zpresso J-Max owner here. Great grinder, incredibly precise (too precise?), super fast, very well built. Love it.

WFH,

Most of my friends see it and are fascinated by it, and then are like, “nah, I would never do that.” 😂

Same 😂 Most of mine are like "This is some really good coffee, but I'm not sure it's worth it" too... Most of them are nespresso or superauto users tho.

I managed to convince one single friend who was an Aeropress diehard, he ended up buying a Cafelat Robot 😂

Spoiler alert, it's totally worth it.
