Controversial gaming opinions that I have:

  1. Mobile games should be respected because they’re the modern equivalent of 80s and 90s arcade games
  2. Nintendo, though they are good, are largely overrated
  3. Modern retro-inspired games are largely better than actual retro games
  4. The best, most affordable, and legal way to get into retro gaming is GOG.com
  5. The best modern console is the Steam Deck

@atomicpoet Yeah, there are legitimately good mobile games under the heaping pile of ad-filled trash. It's just super hard to find; they're usually made by indie studios or maybe a smaller group of people and are not popular at all.

Many games I like on mobile I discovered through finding game recommendations on youtube, and through luck of scrolling endlessly on stores (I personally use apkpure instead of the standard Google Play Store on Android)

@atomicpoet My favorite FPS game on mobile is Combat Master, that still gets regular updates from time to time, and isn't filled to the brim with so many skins or anything that makes pay-to-win users gain an advantage to users who don't pay with real money. No ads either.

Special Forces Group 3 is also fun. Plus, both of these games don't always need Wi-Fi to be played with unlike many popular fps games; they can be used to play against bots ^^

I also found hidden gems like Marble Legend 2 (A Zuma-like game) and Magic Gems, a match-3 puzzle game with limited moves, similar to the likes of Candy Crush but doesn't have ads.

@thor LOLLL im not a guy but I can SO relate. I find anyone attractive regardless of gender, but it's mostly due to appreciating either their fashion sense, the way they present themselves, and how they look so confident in their own skin. it DOES NOT mean I'm going on a romantic relationship with them either. Like... they look good for the sake of looking good. And they're cool and awesome.. and they inspire me to be confident as well...

I can’t watch these Nintendo Switch collections on YouTube anymore. It’s just too infuriating.

Many of these games I bought on Steam for C$1.00. For example, Super Meat Boy.

Yet, a CIB copy of Super Meat Boy on Switch averages around $42 because it had a limited run.

People tell me that PC gaming is expensive. Well, if you’re running Super Meat Boy, it isn’t. That game will run on a potato.

You can probably buy a laptop for the same price as the Nintendo Switch port of Super Meat Boy—and play that game on the laptop. I’m not kidding.

@atomicpoet For real 😭😭 I remember owning a nintendo switch back then. Games are super pricey. Then some of the games I owned had a lot of content locked through DLC and paid content. I could buy around three to four games, or even more for my PS3 for the price of one nintendo switch game at my place. And yeah, you're right- although I don't buy much games on PC, they really come really cheap when I see them on Steam and on other online stores, even before the discounts...
