There definitely is a DM system in Lemmy. From the website, if you click on a user there's a "Send Message" option, and your notifications has a Messages section. I just don't think it's implemented in Jerboa.

Best Way to Catch Up on Story?

What's the best way to catch up on the story of WoW? In-game, preferably. I finished up in Zandalar and now I'm in Nazjatar and... Who the hell is MOTHER? Why is there a big-ass sword jammed into Silithus? I feel like the 0-to-hero path thru Zandalar skipped... A lot of steps. So what's the best way for me to play catch-up?...

So your "evidence" is 4 different links from a "competing" platform, all of which should be considered "one source" not multiple individual sources, one of which is a user post with no actual evidence shown or linked -- at least not in the body of the post, I didn't care to follow through checking the comments -- and an article from... Vice.

Not exactly what I would call reputable sources. I'm not DENYING what you're saying, I just don't see any specific evidence to support your claim. Just... Be mindful of what you're using as "source material" when you claim there's evidence.

Let's be real, it's not even that the changes will lose corporations money, it's that the changes will lower their disgustingly bloated earnings by a marginal amount that makes them panic.

There are a lot less people on here, but I feel a lot more keyed in and engaged with the communities I am a part of on here. It's nice!

Just gotta figure out how best to direct people with the federation and server load issues before then. Should be fun!

Personally, so far I adore it. It doesn't scratch that... Endless content consumption itch that Reddit did. There are a lot less users, so there's a lot less "fresh" content piling up on my home feed for me to scroll through and huff air out my nose at.

It's been a bit of an adjustment, but now that I'm more used to it it's definitely a welcome change. I find myself actively engaging more instead of just scrolling by, contributing instead of lurking.

The ability to interact across platforms is pretty incredible. I've been looking into other fediverse platforms since my introduction to Lemmy -- thank you Reddit! 🥰

KBin looks interesting. I'm familiar with Mastodon, but before looking into Lemmy I never really understood what it meant that it was "federated". Tell me more about Friendica, please? If you don't mind, that is.

What does everyone think about the changes to Allied Races and Riding Skills? I for one am excited, at least for the Allied Races updates. I don't really mind one way or another for the Riding Skills. It'll be nice not to have to dump a load of gold into skills and basic mounts for each new character, but the game hands gold out...

Bwonsamdi is one of my favorite parts of Zandalar. I wish there was a cosmetic option to replace the Val'kyr with Bwonsamdi... everywhere. Even if it was limited only to players who had completed the Zandalar story up to a point. I'd even give it a pass if it was limited only to Zandalari trolls, but that would be sad......

Been playing a lot of WoW recently, really loving all the content in Zandalar! Most fun I've had playing an MMO in a while.

On the single-player side of things, I played through Beasts of Maravilla Island! It's short, but sweet, and only $10 on Steam. It scratches the same itch as Pokémon Snap, and I've been desperate for new content like it since New Pokémon Snap isn't likely to get any new DLC... Ever.

#1 has gotta be Guild Wars 2. The content is engaging and fun, I adore the combat, and the COMMUNITY is the best! Such friendly folks there. It's definitely the MMO that has held my attention longest, and I recommend it to literally everyone. It's free to get started, so you can decide if it's for you without any monetary cost. Then, the price of the game is the cost of the expansions. No subscriptions like other MMOs, or xpaks + subs (looking at you, WoW!).

#2 is WoW. 😅 Been playing it since I was a kid. My whole family plays, actually, which is how I got into MMOs to begin with. It irks me that there's a substantial sub fee plus the cost of the new xpaks every time. Especially since I got back into it, I was going to hit max level before I picked up Dragonflight but the game actually stopped me from doing so. Couldn't go the last 10 levels to max until I bought the expansion.

#3 right now has to be Dungeons and Dragons Online. DDO is a lot of fun! I love the "dungeon master" narration of quests and things, I think it's a great gimmick.

Outside of that, my tier list really falls apart, lol. I have ESO, but I haven't given it enough time to actually decide if I like it. FF14 seems so much fun, but it's also a sub fee game and... I only have space in my life for one of those right now. 😅
