I just noticed that my active and hot are 3 days old, it looks like this server is being hit with this bug where the hot calculator dies. Currently, there are fixes in the works and it may be worth cherry picking them or restarting the server during a down time until the fixes make it into the next release.
Unfortunately, we're stuck with the bug until we upgrade to a version without it. Restarting has been suggested, but the problem with that is that the outbound queue is held in RAM, so it gets lost with a restart.
We'll upgrade our version as soon as humanly possible
Facebook is planning to join the Fediverse by releasing a Twitter-like service that runs on ActivityPub. This would flood the Fediverse with content (and trolls) from Facebook, allow Facebook to mine data from the Fediverse, and would do irreparable damage to this small part of the internet which has not yet been marred by...
At this point in time, I'm leaning towards limiting rather than blocking on the main blahaj.zone. Lemmy and kbin don't allow silencing, but are also unlikely to federate with meta instances in the first place, so I'm not sure what we're going to do about them.
I found out about it because of a hacker news comment discussing the Reddit drama. I'm pretty upset that I didn't discover it on Reddit. I assume any mention of Lemmy was marked as spam or was I just not browsing the right communities?
I joined the fediverse just over a year ago when Musk first made moves at Twitter, and was pretty quickly co-admin of a Calckey instance. I used reddit more than I use twitter though, so I went looking for federated reddit alternatives and found lemmy.
We spun up a lemmy instance around 6 months ago. I've been here ever since
As the fediverse continues to grow, let's reflect on some of the things that we disliked most about posting/lurking on reddit and what we can do differently now that we have a chance to build something new.

Hello, test post! (ocho.zone)
Please federate!
how did you find out about Lemmy?

What were some "bad habits" on reddit that we should try to avoid bringing over here?
