🤯 Warp just showed me the future of devops runbooks. It’s like Postman for CLIs.

Warp (a terminal app) introduced collaborative documents in the terminal (“notebooks”) that can run commands in the terminal. No more hunting for the wiki page or README file.

When combined with its “workflows” (code snippets for commands with easier to use parameter passing), this is the documentation I want for everything I have to do on a command-line.

adrianc,

@Jeremiah are they still requiring login+super strong on the generative AI side? :(

keeping reading on system design interviews, I can’t recommend reading Designing Data-Intensive Applications by Martin Kleppmann enough 🙏

Elixir also made some stuff easier to comprehend or even totally ignore though 😇

Hello there!

I'm preparing for a system design interview for a job (in Elixir), involving an event based system

I've found something from interview.io and I will re-read "Designing Data Intensive Applications" soon but I wanted to see if there was some popular resources on either system design interviews, event based systems or even both!

Boosts more than welcome!

Microsoft should invest in two things:

  • GitHub Actions
  • Minecraft

I'll reach out their CEO to let them know my great ideas.

Also, seriously, don't you feel like GitHub is expanding on thousands of things while not investing in what they actually already have? To my point of view, the product is just stalling.

adrianc,

@alyx after kubernetes resources as minecraft's creatures, I present to you Github Actions + GitFlow as carts and railroad system inside minecraft

adrianc,

@alyx or the nether is the prod env and you have to have specific VPNs and rights to access it

adrianc,
adrianc,

@alyx sorry hahahahaha

adrianc,

@alyx and im sure with dagger.io you could probably run the pipeline inside minecraft directly

Terminal apps building blocks with Charm.sh

adrianc,

@alyx je connaissais pas du tout !

adrianc,

@alyx j'ai regardé mais tant que j'utilise pas ça reste encore un peu nébuleux :D
Mais merci pour le retour, je vais me garder ça sous le coude et le ressortir dès que j'en aurais l'occasion <3

And another quick / question. What's the experience like for users with maybe unstable internet connection.

Can they still view the page their on? How does the page degrade when you loose connection to the websocket?

adrianc,

@codemonkeymike You should actually be able to test it by tweaking some timeout/delay configuration in the app.js file where the socket is connecting to the server. I think it's commented out?

But usually IIRC it's mostly some kind of lag. Depending on the app you can sometimes have a "can't connect to the server" message too

adrianc,

@codemonkeymike I don't know if this is possible tbh, even though there are some html sent without the liveview stuff the first "mount" 🤔

Zed, the newest kid in the text-editor block is now open source!

I really like the emphasis on collaboration they have :)

Kinda long post but I've finally translated my notes about and in English.

Feel free to correct me if I'm saying nonsense, I'm not a professional DevOps guy!

Likewise, it's actually a bit old on some parts (something like 1 or 2 years? 😬), so if you try it and it doesn't work tell me! I will try to test it myself in the coming days but still :)

In March, Apple will allow people in the EU to install apps from outside its app store, use less expensive payment processors to pay for services, and get better integration between first- and third-party apps and features.

I just changed my Apple App Store-managed subscriptions to all expire this summer so I can switch my App Store country from the US to Sverige to get these benefits.

Changing countries in the Apple App Store results in losing some purchases, which is why I hadn’t yet.

adrianc,

@Jeremiah ouch, I didn't know we could lose our purchase history. Might want to complete my switch to apple before changing countries then 😬

A bit of stress when docker on mac suddenly goes "hey im broken please reinstall me"

this time it went well, but last time on Linux it happened, I got two Docker engines (or whatever) running

one in the background that I couldn't ever access, and it was still using ports and images, so the 2nd one couldn't start anything...

I basically had to reinstall ubuntu to get rid of it 💀
