alex,

You should post here: !lemmy_support

This is not a technical support community.

(but also i’ve had the same issue since the last lemmy update, i suppose a bug made its way in there.)

Issue with nsfw material in feed

So this post from lemmynsfw.com just popped up in my feed. It is not tagged as nsfw although it obviously is. I have tried attaching a screenshot but Jerboa throws an error. I have nsfw material turned off in my account settings, so this wouldn’t happen if the post would be tagged properly. I’m using Jerboa. I could just ban...

alex,

Sounds like an issue with Jerboa more than with Lemmy tbh if you can’t properly block a community. Log in to the website and block the community there.

alex,

My suggestion would be to back it up on the Internet archive manually once in a while.

alex,

Quel enfer, il n’y a aucun monde où ce genre d’arrêté n’est pas juste prétexte à plus de délit de faciès.

alex,

I really liked this read! I blog, and I like my blog, but sometimes get stressed out because I feel like nobody’s reading it (I’ve removed all analytics on purpose because I used to get obsessed with them). Blogging for the simple act of blogging, and not for engagement, is the best!

alex,

Homemade burgers are healthy. The problem is the absurd amount of salt and low-quality fats that restaurants put in their food.

alex,

It’s so hot outside, I’m almost only making salads. Yesterday was:

  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 150g cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 100g feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 peach, diced
  • Balsamic vinegar

Most of my days are a variation around that until things get fresher (peach can be replaced with a yellow or red pepper depending on what my veggie dealer has in stock).

alex,

It’s a gender-neutral variation of my birth name. I’m a simple person.

alex,

you’ve been an absolutely wonderful admin. please take all the time you need and come back when you’re ready, if you’re ready; don’t come back too soon and burn out again. take care!

What is the best way to get books/things to read for free/cheap?

So im usally am stuck at home but ive never felt like rading but i also want to learn somethign new. i was thinking i should read a how to book or, (blank) for dummies but i do online school, i cant drive because im afraid and i tend to freak out when going somewhere becasue i have autism....

alex,

Nooot as legal as the other alternatives here, libgen.is has a gigantic catalogue (if you know what you’re looking for) to download ebooks from.

alex,

(AbeBooks is owned by Amazon - bookshop.org might be a better alternative.)

Yet another simple introduction to the Fediverse (alexsirac.com)

This was originally built to explain Meta’s P92 to some people, and I slightly edited it to make it a bit more general. It starts with Twitter, then Mastodon, then the Fediverse as a whole in what I hope is an intuitive manner, and requires no “tech literacy” outside of knowing what Twitter and Facebook are like.

alex,

Very reminiscent of the 2005 riots that happened for 2-3 weeks after the death of two young boys who had been chased by the police without reason in eerily similar fashion on the same religious holiday: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_French_riots

alex,

Just signed up for a trial account and it looks really good. Search in French is surprisingly decent compared to DuckDuckGo.

alex,

It's easier to start with the small things, like moving to another email provider (I used mailo for a while, which is free and independent, that I really like), changing your search engine (DuckDuckGo is free and a great "gateway" in my opinion), and/or using alternative front-ends for Youtube videos (like Invidious). Once you get used to those, it's easier to see the value of de-googlifying other stuff! I still use Google Calendar and have an Android phone, but I don't use many other Google products anymore :)

Do mtf shelters have any need for small clothing? (lemmy.nerdcore.social)

Hi there, I’m a trans man and just separated all winter clothes that are too undeniably feminine for me. They’re the large pile on this picture, which should have ten or so sweaters. However I’m fairly petite, I have 161cm and slim shoulders. I wear S size (with some XS or M sprinkled in). I’m not sure transfem shelters...

alex,

There are a bunch of small and/or young transfeminine people, they might be interested :)

alex,

Congrats on making it through the exams and good luck for finding the summer job!

alex,

Oooo enjoy the weekend, whatever you end up doing!

alex,

That sounds like an absolute nightmare, I'm really sorry. I hope everything will end up fine.

alex,

Congrats on the new job and on enjoying spin class!!

alex,

I am incredibly lucky to live in a country that strongly protects workers, to have no children and to be able to afford an apartment 10mins away from my partner's place rather than living together and depending on each other's calendar. I remember how lucky I am every day.

I really hope the baby is doing well and that things will settle down in a year or two - obviously it's still not going to be "unspoken for time", but hopefully things will settle down a bit at least!
