Pleroma does something very brave to deal with race conditions. They simply don't care.

alex,

@feld It's not really a problem. More of a trade-off. I'm considering copying Pleroma's way of not caring. It's about emoji react counts. To update the count, we SELECT the object, modify, then UPDATE. But if two processes SELECT at the same time, the later one will overwrite the prior one. The solution is to lock it, or something? Doesn't seem worth the added complexity. Or use Redis, which actually supports Sets, which really doesn't seem worth it. So what it's doing is actually fine. Unlike when Pleroma got Webfingered yesterday. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Had a dream I ate a piece of steak at a venue. I literally couldn't stop myself. Then I saw the entire carcass fit on my plate. Then some guy got up and started shouting, "it's veal! these are baby cows! This is highly unethical!" And I started shouting back, "what is the difference between a baby cow and an adult cow?! Huh?! Huh?!"

@KnifeEar One of my first seeds of veganism was when I was eating a hamburger, and I was looking at my own arm (I had just done marijuana). And as I was chewing the hamburger I was thinking about how it was made of the same "stuff" as my very own flesh. And, you just can't come back from that man.

@alex Hi Mr. Gleason. I was wondering if Pleroma FE is able to be used with Ditto yet. All the other nostr interfaces look really bad except for soapbox and I want to keep using Pleroma fe with social media stuffs. :think_happy:

alex,
@alex@gleasonator.com avatar

@kirby It's been months since I checked, but in theory you should be able to do this:

Nginx proxy Pleroma FE against a Ditto server

Enter your npub as the username and password to log in.

You are now logged in, in read-only mode.

If you enter your nsec as the password, you can post too. But it's insecure.

The problem with Pleroma FE is that it doesn't support OAuth login.

I'm currently working on making other Mastodon/Pleroma apps work with remote signers, so you can log into any of them securely. But they need to support OAuth login, like fe.soapbox.pub or Pinafore.

To make Pleroma FE work natively will require some hacks or workarounds. But it is possible.

    @verita84eva @burner The problem is I don't really know why, and I don't know how to test it because it happens intermittently. If I take an specific post and look at it, it passes all the checks.
