In 2020, John Williams conducted a concert of his various compositions from his lengthy career with The Vienna Philharmonic. You can watch the entire concert here (https://youtu.be/LixG82u6fe4?si=iG7Cd6ce_l2RSHRh). It’s long but it’s really great.

@silentbeauties the amount of folx that get super drunk/throw a party when a hurricane/tropical storm is hitting is always shockingly high (see: social media this week when we’ve had severe flooding and power outages in the Houston area. A former classmate threw a “storm party” as is now upset b/c their children played in flood waters and got attacked by fire ants🤬)

Giovanni Battista Draghi AKA Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (January 4, 1710 – March 16/17, 1736) was considered one of the important Italian Baroque era composers and multi-instrumentalists of his time. Unfortunately, he lived with chronic tuberculosis and died due to complications from it at age 36. He wrote “Stabat Mater” during the final weeks of his life. It became his most celebrated work- with major composers like Rousseau championing it following Pergolesi’s death.

The Auditorio Nacional de Música (National Auditorium of Music) is a complex of concert venues located in Madrid, Spain that was built in 1988. As the largest symphony hall in Spain it can seat over 1,200 in its 3 major halls combined. It features a beautiful Simon Platt designed pipe organ that has 5,000 pipes with divided couplings and 3 stops.

Esplanade: Theatres on the Bay is a Performing Arts Centre located in Downtown Core, Singapore near the Singapore River. It was completed in 2002 and its five venues can seat a combined total of 3,600 people. It wasn’t designed to look like the infamous Durian fruit but it does so locals nicknamed it “the two durians”. The largest performance hall features a pipe organ with 4,740 pipes and 61 stops designed by Johannes Klais Orgelbau😍

Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall is a performing arts centre in Empress Place, Singapore. It was completed in 1902, was used as a hospital during WWII, a venue for post WWII Japanese war crime conviction trials and was designated a National Monument on Valentine’s Day in 1992. It can seat 600 and features a 50yr old Klais pipe organ that has 2,012 pipes and is also Singapore's only fully mechanical organ😍

The Parish Church of St Jude-on-the-Hill is located in London, England and was established in 1907. In addition to the beautifully maintained murals at the alter, the church is considered to be an excellent example of Queen Anne Revival style architecture. It features a distinguished restored and refurbished Father Willis pipe organ and regularly hosts music and arts festivals and local events. Also, the church has a podcast? De Duif is a hybrid neo-classicist/neo-baroque style Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam that was built in 1858. It was declared a Rijksmonument AKA a national heritage site of the Netherlands in 1995. Despite no longer being used to hold official religious events it is used to host cultural and local events and it is still home to a large, fully restored, working Smits-orgel pipe organ.
