Oct 12.
What is your MC's most frustrating fear?

Facing the real reasons behind her existence, why she isn't bound to time or place. The nameless MC has even trouble thinking about it.

How do you research real-world locations? Do you visit them?

Luckily, I don't need that often. Also luckily, I've already traveled a lot. I did go see certain places, though, like Florence for The Masks of Florence or St. Petersburg for Der Geist in Brand.

And when I can't go there, I use Google maps and the kind. I did that for because it was impossible to drive through Africa north to south. I've been to Jerusalem and Swakopmund, though.

99 — How did your MC or SC feel about friendships growing up?

Daniel was popular. He was never without friends and took that for granted.

Flo and Miriam had no friends but keepers. They only had each other, and this via letters since they weren't allowed to meet in person.
Thus, it's no wonder 14-year-old Miriam smiled back at Zach...

to start the day, Oct 12

Today's really difficult, but there's always...

  1. A good cup of morning coffee

  2. A safe home

  3. and some nice personal feedback yesterday!

Oct 11. If you and your MC swapped places for a day, who would have an easier time adjusting?

I think it would be difficult for both of us. While she would need to get used to modern times and being fixed in space and time, I would probably get totally lost in the eons. And the world.

11 Oct. What sounds are present when you're writing?

Apart from birds and the distant background of Berlin street noises - it's mostly quiet. I might listen to music while I read, but once I get going, music is too distracting.

How does your MC or SC pass the time?

Miriam studies books or meditates.

Daniel prefers physical exercise. Running, weights, Krav Maga - he was a jock in school.

Flo will take his motorcycle for a ride. And while he's at it, he'll check the surroundings for dangers.

Was sind deine Erwartungen an deine Autorenkarriere?

Erster Impuls: Ich habe keine.

Oct 11: snippet/grave

What's he up to? Is he going to kill himself? But he has already died. Does he want to destroy his body? It has long since rotted in a grave in Egypt! How does he want to put an end to that? What solutions has he found for himself that I can't see?
And then I sense it.
It's like a thread, a fine, thin thread. It goes out from the message, through time. It's his trace.
I see his trail through time.
With wide-open, blind eyes, I follow it.

to start the day Oct 11

  1. Coding project was accepted! Onto the next module!

  2. While I have to go to the office today, I received feedback on the project report and will make sure to work on that.

  3. slept well and had some cool dreams. Maybe turn that into a story...?

10:SC POV: You can spend a whole day with the MC. What will you do?

Alexander: I'm spending all my days with her. I want to make her talk. She knows everything about me - she was at my conception! And I don't even know her name. What happened to her? Why is she so silent about her past?
What scares her this much?

Oct 10. Did you learn cursive/joined-up writing in primary school?

Most definitely. Was never any good at it. If I write fast, it's not very legible. It also hurts my wrist if I write a lot.

Needless to say, I only started writing for real after first a typewriter and then a computer entered my life. I haven't been without since I was 12. And I'd rather forgo a TV than my laptop.

97 — How do your characters react to criticism?

Miriam would listen, analyze, and acknowledge.

Daniel would be hurt at first, but then man up and listen.

Flo might first pretend not to have heard anything. And then argue. And silently vow to do better. Maybe acknowledge after some more arguing...

#phantastikprompts 10.10.

Oct 9: Do any of your characters have sensory sensitivities?

The nameless MC can feel time. She isn't that good with space, but she always knows when she is - however, not necessarily how long she stays.

And both she and Alexander can sense when the other is close.

Oct 09: Is there a recurring theme in your body of work?

Yes. The majority of my MC is in their late teens or early twens and searching for their place in the world.

I personally find this period in life fascinating. It's a time when we feel invincible and insecure at the same time, when we still harbour our sweet illusions and (in most cases) aren't jaded yet, when the world seems open and wild. All seems possible.

How do your characters react to praise?

Miriam: Thank you. It was nothing.

Daniel: Hey, thanks! Cool it worked out, right?

Flo: Don't mention it! I'm just awesome that way. smirks and hides blush
